John,

Im planning a pole barn over in Phelps. questions, how has your concrete slab held up? Any cracks or Pex leaks ? And what is you post spacing on the 2 side walls? Did you set anchors for the posts in the concrete pour, or just in the cinder blocks?

I have been taking bids from local pole barn builders, and there posts are 9' on centers.
Any suggestions would be very helpful.

I have only hairline cracks in the slab, nothing that would be unexpected in any slab on grade. The pex is just fine too. I have a 4" slab (never planned to put anything really heavy on it) with 12" thickened edges. Double rebar in the edges and 6" wire mesh over all the slab. I think it really helps to compact what ever material you are putting your slab on. Mine was sand over a mine rock base.

My posts are 5' on center, but I also have the trusses resting directly on the posts, rather than on a header, so that means my trusses are also 5' on center. That is about as far apart as I could go without ending up with some gargantuan trusses. Plus, would have had to use some really beefy perlins. I put anchors in the slab to hold the block where the post is located and then filled the cavity of the block with concrete and set the anchor for the post bracket on it. So the posts are tied to the slab, but not by one single bolt.

Seems to be working very well.

Good luck with your build.
