DONE with BABBIT'S

I've had decent luck with BABBIT's..........until now. I recommended them to a friend, he looked up the parts he needed, and ordered them. That was THREE weeks ago. He has not received an e-mail or anything to inform him of the situation. You would think with the shipping charges they charge it wouldn't take three weeks. ***!!!!!!

I have learned to always call right after placing the order, learned this the hard way after having the same experience with Nelsons Speed Shop online ordering.

I have ordered parts for years from alljet.com based in Richland, MI, never had to call them and always got the parts within a few days. Their prices are higher, though......

I been lucky with Babbits. Yes they make up the differance in shipping cost. You have to order a bunch of needed items to show a good cost savings. Been very luck with bike bandit. Low shipping but almost retail pricing on parts but quick turn around in getting parts.

This may be a dumb question, but I may be a dumb guy :)

Did the chargest post to his credit card yet? I ask because in todays world of technology its always possible that some string of techno babble didn't hook up with some other string of techno babble and somewhere along the way the transaction didn't go through.

If the charges already hit the card and no parts have arrived I would be on the horn with Babbits asap.

Another thing I thought of is you say he has received no e-mail about the situation. Usually when you place an order you get a message confirming your order, did he get that?

I purchased a bunch of engine parts for a poo 800 and received them 5 days earlier than they said. They get alot of parts direct from manufacture so they are at the mercy of them most of the time. Not sure exactly what you bought but there's a reason for everything. I agree they shouldn't charge your card till it ships!

I just had the same experience with Roseneau in dearborn, mi. The internet order didnt get processed because the credit card info didnt get processed..... is what I was told after calling for an update a week later. I will always follow up an on line order with a phone call from now on.

I have had great luck with Babitts online store. But I do pick up my orders from them direct. If you call you get put on hold forever. While at the store I asked about this and they said we only have 3 people running the whole online dept. This includes unloading up to 3 semis a day, labeling, receiving and filling orders along with taking care of the walk in pickup orders. I told them they need way more people and the help stated, "Your right, but we can't make that descision, only management can." So in my persuit to find this ever elusive "Management" I waded through several salesman. Bought the wife a new 2010 Kawasaki 900 Vulcan LT along the way and never did quite find "Management." They do need more people. The prices are great. They told me they never thought that the online store would grow so rapidly. But, "Here are your parts". I left smiling and so did my wife.

Well, well, well. He called and got the old 'waiting on parts from the manufacturer'. YAY! Today he received 'some' parts, the best part, the parts he got were the one that babbits told him they were waiting on, not the ones they had in stock! ***.

I frequent Babbits as it is only a few miles from my house. I went there today to buy parts.

Walked in the door and started to laugh out loud. The sales "manager" asked what was funny. I relayed your post to him. But what made me laugh out loud was the "general manager" (Eddie) was sitting at his desk in plain view with customers. Then the service manager(Brad) walked by and said hi. Then the "owner manager" (Pam) walked past and she said hi as well.

As far as your explaination of their on line service. They have 8 people just taking online orders. 20 something people pulling and shipping(600 orders a day average), unloading and loading two to 3 semi's a day. I am sure they get some orders wrong.

And they have 2-3 people behind the parts counter at most times.

That was my experience with Babbits today.

I have used Babbitts in the past with good luck; orders usually come one week early. Last order I only received two of the items, waited until past due date, than called, they said everything had been ship. I told them that I had only received two of the items; they said they would check in to it, two days later parts were at my door. I will still be ordering from them.

I do like ordering from them. Wife put on her snowmobile suit and went for a ride today. It got up to 34 degrees. Roads were dry. So all those people are management? I thought, "Why would they be out in the open, Looks like salespeople to me, Run, Hide, buy, Game over!" LOL. The 2-3 at the parts counter are working hard, can only assume the rest are too! Great Prices, Great service, Wife got a nice bike at a very good Price!

Learned the hard way..

Years ago I was building a mid engined car. I ordered a custom set of headers[had to be made from scratch] and was told 6 weeks till delivery. Six weeks later, waiting for the headers for dyno time,no headers. I called manufacturer only to be told ''they had dropped the ball on this one", didn't have my headers in their system. Since then, I call every few days to make sure everyone is on the same page. Everyone makes mistakes in this world today.

fast shipping!

Still waiting...................................

While I posted comments on Babbits above, I did go in to buy parts. They had three of the five parts I wanted in stock. I ordered two gears. That was at 11:30 am Thursday. Friday at 2:30pm, I got a call from Ron at the parts counter telling me the gears were in. I was suprised!

I would say next day was pretty fast service. Ron said the parts came from Wisconsin.
