2002 skidoo summit 800x my low oil light jsut started coming on while riding. Got back to the Hotel and i was still full of oil could not even get in half a quart. I was playing with my brake and my brake was not sticking jsut wondering what the problem might be. thanks

Or possibly the switch. The low oil light should come on when you squeeze the brake, then go off when you let go. Maybe the switch is sticking?

Yea I would check that, when the light is on look back and see if your brake light is on also. That is what one of my sleds did.

What switch are you talking about? I have several ZX chasis and am parting one out so i can try differnt parts on my summit just wondering what switch.

the oil level sensor, is that in the tank to where the point i would need a new tank or jsut a new float?

Oil level sensor- is on the bottom of the tank, you will see the wire going to it. I would take the wire off and clean it real good and put back on before I would be in a hurry to change the sensor. make sure all oil is out before removing but I would check brake switch first.

Brake sensor-Squease your brake all the way, you will see a de-tent type button which pushes in. That is the switch for the brake light and will be the one that activates the light on the dash also. Take and push and pull on it and see if the dash light goes on and off. On an 01 I had this switch would freeze up until my handwarmers got good and warm and then would work fine.

Yep, that's the one I was talking about.

Ok i think i get it,. is that called the microswitch? i looked on HLSM and think thats what your talking about. basically what your saying is that the microswitch could be stuck and causing my light to come on because it thinks im squeezing the brake?? if that is the case i will check it tomorrow and see what i get. thanks

Yea that is it. Usually when it sticks your brake light will be on also. (but not always). That is the switch that activates the taillight (and dash light).

I have an '03 MXZ 700 ZX and would run into issues with the oil light coming on and staying on when I would get a lot of snow dust coming through the hood vents. Seems others have run into this too. I believe that some harness would get wet, shorting out and bringing on the light. I also ran into this, the first time right after I washed the sled. Light came on when I started it to dry out under the hood.
