'06 MXZ 600 Won't Start

Just wondering if any of you gearheads would have any ideas about my sled not wanting to start. Took it out of mothballs, put the battery back in (fully charged), fresh gas, but it will not even try to crank. Put in fresh plugs to no avail. Took out the plugs but smelled no gas at all, just oil.

I can't recall ever seeing a "Fuel Valve" on this sled. I did manage to tweak my back a bit from all the pulling tho! Bummer!

Any help would be most appreciated.

Check the stupid stuff first. 1) engine kill switch ?
2) fuel shutoff valve
We need a little more info.
does it have a pull start?
When you say does not crank, is the starter engaging? Or are you saying it just cranks and cranks and no startie? Do you have spark? Voltage regulator, fuel pump, mouse in exhaust pipe?

I would take the plugs out and make sure you have spark. If you do put a little gas in the cylinders and see if you can get it to run that way. If it fires and quits you know you have a fuel problem. I have had to do this a few times then finally the fuel pump starts pumping.

The kill switch is okay, no mouse in the exhaust unless he crawled through the steel wool I put there, and then removed before trying to start.

It is a pull start, and the engine cranks but doesn't sound like it wants to start at all. As for spark, I'll need to get a second set of hands to check that.

I was looking for a fuel cutoff switch like all of my Polaris' had, but I can't remember every seeing one on this sled and the manual doesn't mention it that I can find.

I'll check tonight when I get home to see what else I can find.

Did you fog this thing ? I would go right to the " spark " and then dumping gas right down the plug hole, like said above. At least these 2 things will give you a direction.

Sometimes it helps to remove the plugs and pull her a couple times to get all the goo out. You need to make sure the plugs are not soaked in oil or gas, spray-em with the compressor before you put them back in.

Okay, I win the dumba** award for the week. Mea cupla, mea culpa!

I did everything correctly, but forgot that with my garage roller system, for this particular sled you need more than two gallons of gas because the rear is higher than the front by about six inches.

I called my brother who had the exact same sled for four years, and he reminded me that less than four or five gallons, with that tilt forward, won't get the gas flowing. Ergo, the reason I couldn't smell any gas on the plugs (and yes, I even put in new plugs).

I put in a couple more gallons last night and BINGO!!! The lovely scent of pure ambrosia (2-stroke oil) wafting through the garage.

Thanks for the help folks, I'll try not being a knucklehead in future posts.
