Reaching out to Mountain Lodge (Copper Harbor)

For anyone that has not tried the Mountain Lodge up in the Keweenaw for lunch, or dinner, we highly recommend giving them a try! Located off of trail 135 right past the intersection of 134, and 135 at the Copper Harbor side. Great sandwiches, good price, and reroute on the trail going in so no more 1/2 mile road to the lodge. You won't believe their burgers :)
I found their site at: http://www.atthelodge.com/
Their winter schedule for dinning is Thursday through Monday, closed on Tuesday and Wed. Be sure to give them a try.

We used to stay there all the time in the summer but was surprised to find out that they are open during the winter. I thought they used to close every winter. I just noticed their ad on the main page banner this week - loved the vintage snowmobiles.

I don't know if any or all of the cabins are open but some had the classic U.P. sandstone fireplaces. Really neat. Of course there also was the carved to order prime rib. It's a classic lodge and a piece of history, built by the W.P.A I think.

I talked to the manager yesterday while we were there. They do have a couple of cabins open now in the winter, not sure on prices.
They have a gov grant to allow them an opportunity to remain open for the winter starting last year. Not sure how long this will last so I want to try and get the word out so they get a fighting chance to remain open for years to come.

Will be sure to stop when we come up in February. As many times as I've been up to the U.P. I never knew this was there.

If i am not mistaken, they just opened last winter for the first time in the winter.
That is correct. Last winter was the first year they were open for the winter.
We went there for lunch, and dinner now and enjoyed both. Low prices, and excellent food.

Will look for it this weekend when we make the run from rockland to Copper. Didn't see a sign a few weeks ago, but I wasn't looking when we went by 134/135.

If you are going north out of Copper Harbor on 134 and turn onto 135 you make the right turn and go about 100 yards, you would keep going straight to the Mountain Lodge trail. Enjoy, I recommend the blacken dolphin sandwich, loved it :D I had it for lunch last Thursday and was very pleased. Then on Friday had the stuffed chicken breast dinner, wow it was great.
Enjoy!

They got signs for this place. How far of trail is it? What kind of food you guys eating from there whats good.

They have a big vinyl sign they were going to put up but unsure if they did yet. I will fly by there today or tommorrow and see if its up. If not there is a small sign on a tree on the turn.

Remember, I think they are closed tues and wed
