Refrigerator and air conditioner prep!

Time to pull out the refrigerators and ac units and clean them up. I have a double side by side refrigerator and the condensor coils are all packed tight underneath. These new refrigerators can fit into tight places but all the air is sucked in thru the bottom so the condenser coils pack up fast especially if you have a pet. I ended up using electronic spray cleaner on the coils to remove the greasy dust residue then a shop vac and air compressor did the rest. This is cheap maintenance that can save you big dollars. I fried a motor protection module 2 years ago from dust build up and almost learned the hard way.

While you are 100% correct; anyone who has one of these newer type refrigerators, and hasn't cleaned it in a year better get it done, I can tell you that this is a great design for killing refrigerators.

The older units with the coils on the back were much easier to get to and clean, and far less likely to gather dust and pet hair which of course is located on the floor. As kids and dogs and such travel around stirring up the dust on the floor, it gets sucked under the fridge and into the coils.

While the older system was pretty fool proof, and it caused the machine to stick out about 2 more inches, it seems this was a poor trade off to gain that 2 inches of room.

And the older I get the harder it is to get down there and clean that area out.

Sometimes new isn't always better.

Maybe you should put the AC on her list. At least that's a little smaller than a refrigerator!

With a wife like that, somebody better remind you that it is Mothers day coming up....might want to work on that one....not sure if you have room for a refrig and a/c hangin off your underware.
