I am sorry to all the lefties on here, and don't mean to be political, but Obama has not done jack crap.
Having re-read my post, I think it might be a bit harsh, and I certainly don't want to make Skylar mad as I do not wish to join the ranks of the banished! But I left the post intact and thought I would lead with my little disclaimer here.
It's just that I get so mad when people frame our economic issues as left/right. They are not left/right, they are issues of class and economic rights. I'm an American, 58 years old, and I was raised to believe any body could achieve anything, we all got an equal start. It isn't that way anymore. And we waste our time arguing about left/right. What a scam!
Skylar, you are corrrect, Obama hasn't done crap. Neither did Bush, neither will the next person.
Now on to my original rant!
**********************************************************
Skylar, that is pure crap. The situation this country is not a left/right issue. It is an issue of economic stratification and the fact that the top 1% of the population now controls 42% of the nation's wealth.
Ninety three percent of the nation's wealth is controlled by 10% of the population.
27 million Americans are unemployed or underemployed
37 million Americans are on food stamps
25% of our nation's children are being raised in poverty, making it the largest American generation to be raised in poverty since the Great Depression
The bottom 90% of Americans hold 73% of the debt
Meanwhile, as we continue to export jobs and eviscerate our middle class we create massive government assistance programs that we fund by issuing mountains of debt to pay for what used to be paid for by people working, thus destroying our future generations' ability to solve this problem.
And yet, we still fight it out as left vs. right. Do you suppose the top 1% of families laugh openly at us while we continue to fight each other rather than them?
