We are planned to go to UP Dec 29- Jan 3. I see colorado got snow yesterday should we make the trip or wait for snow in UP? All are EFI newer sleds and would be looking for mostly trail riding but would like a mix now and then. Where to go? Who to contact? It would only be a 3 hr longer drive than the UP depending on where we go in Co. Maybe we are snow crazy!!!

Try the SNOWY 's.. In 2007 We had no snow and three of us , went to Larime WY. Right on U.S. 80 and rode trails for three days. Was one of the best life trip we ever took..

if you go to CO you got to go to S co only place worth the drive now.
rabbit ears only has 31in that is just enough to cover the Boulder's bring your extra A Arms.
we are still on the fence for new yrs day waiting for 1 more storm of 1ft or more.
1 guy already bailed think he is afraid that now pro might get a bobo with the lack of snow or that the old cats will run circles around him.
http://www.wunderground.com/StateSnowDepth.asp?state=CO look hear before you spend 600 in fuel will be bit deeper in the trees but you still got to get to the trees

I think youre right only been snowmobiling for 4 years, last year was a bummer and this year so far is looking worse.I am able to leave at a moments notice and have a house in the UP.I feel bad for people that have to plan trips.

We canceled our reservations yesterday for the week between christmas and new years and are heading to saratoga wy. I love the U.P. but this is my only chance in Dec. - Jan.
We had a terrible time finding rooms out west if your going to switch start looking now.

In the same boat. Planned on going to the U.P. the same dates. Gonna try Wawa Ontario for the first time after seeing their current trail conditions. I'm in Valparaiso In. so it's the same time to Houghton (10hrs) as it is Wawa. West is still an option too.

What about Laramie WY? Hearing it is a great place?

that is the east side of the snowies. Laramie is about 45 minutes from riding. If you are a trail guy, you may consider calling www.albanylodge.com It's a little farther to the steep mountains and I would carry extra gas on the sled in that range (there are NO gas stations), but there is a decent trail network and my guess is there will be plenty of off trail people that you can sit and watch break stuff now and again :)

The Snowies still don't have much snow by their standards but if you are going to be on the trails mostly you can ride anywhere out west.

There's a poster on here named Jesse who seems to know everything about riding in CO. Find him on the MI trail permit site.

Hey Chilly - Just checked out BushCreek. Looks pretty high brow so I checked out the room rates in the lodge. It told me $1200/night.....eeeeks.

Lol

Yeah little steep. But....It's all inclusive. 162" polaris 800s to use, all your liquor, 5 star cuisine, skeet shooting, virtual golf, gear, snowshoes, skiing, tubing, etc.!!! Still expensive I know. Stayed there last year and the place blew my mind how incredible it was.

Went to the snowies 2 years ago on a whim. Last minute trip, turned out to be the best riding Ive ever done. And gas, there was gas to be found. There is a place up by 10 mile that has gas, or had gas, albany has gas, and down by wycolo had gas, but I think they closed. If you go out to play though, may want to bring gas with you as the gas stops are not close to the fun. But there is definatly gas on the trails. Plan accordingly.

Just booked a trip to Tog, for a few reasons one is it is a bday present to my buddy from his wife and the other is that it looks bad this year in the midwest so we have to get at least one trip in. Do a snow dance for the UP would you guys.

Jump over to the mountain forum. The snow is thin out there but the trail riding will be fine. The trails out there are good and you will have a good time. The scenery from the trail is nice. Have fun.
