Vest Protection

I saw this on the net & thought I would share. I wear sixsixone core protector with spine protection & wrap my Back Thing around core protector for my kidneys for those big trail whacks. Then I saw this today & would be even better set up for me with very reasonable price & will fit easily under jackets. Not sure any protection vests are cut for the ladies? What do you do just stuff the girls in there & if ample in the area seems to me fit & comfort might be a problem? Maybe some of the ladies can chime in share what they do for protection? Not good idea to ride without a vest. What do you think?

I would still personally prefer my Tek Vest or an EVS vest over that style, easy on /off.
Not a fan of the Velcro straps to secure it.

Sure Tek vest excellent no doubt but not priced like this vest. Market needs an affordable protection vest that does not require a larger jacket. We are talking $55 bucks to walk away from impact. My thinking this may be it for the masses.

That looks like a nice alternative to the expensive ones. Know you can't out a price on safety, but everything for us is X5...with MAYBE 2 years worth of wear per kid with option of 'hand me down.'
There is NO way that particular vest could accomodate 'the girls' for me. Always been the problem in the past for me when looking at the vests. There's only so much stuffing ya can do and not feel really uncomfortable!? :)
Thanks for the link. Will look into that one. Has been something I felt like I should really get...think Mike's encounter with the deer brought it just a little closer to home!? Just gonna help me with options.
Anyone else have a favorite of theirs to add? Gonna be spending some money today!? :(

I hear ya WTG on no price for saftey but buds that don't buy vest protection it is always the price debate or we are dead anyway at speeds we travel. Both responses total BS but this vest at least flushes the price comment & good bang for buck + excellent hand me down value. $55 for vest protection & free shipping ....such a deal... who does not have $55? Then I thought what do the ladies do never seen a lady with a vest? Then it hit me must be the grils where do they go & if ample not going to be comfy. I have 4 daughters & 1st thing that comes off is the bra in cars, boats or wherever.lol

These may be another option?

http://www.xsportsprotective.com/demon-shield-protective-vest-2010.html

This one is a safety vest for women, for horse riding, but may be suitable for sledding?

Thanks!

WD - 4 daughters and you understand! :) You make it out for a ride today?

I always think "Well, we aren't some ricky racers" but we go just as fast as everyone else...I just lie to myself that we aren't! My middle kid was riding last week for the first time...on that beautiful road thru the Porkies? Looked down and we were doing 80...everyone else 90! His 3rd dam day riding! i yelled at him after and he said he wasn't looking at his speedo because I told him NOT to!?

It's always that "in the event that something bad DOES happen...did you do all you could do to protect your kids" mentality that doesn't stop when they get out of toddlerhood...

I have sixsixone core protector with spine protection & like it because it breaths & very lite to wear. WTG might get the girls in there too as has side panel strechy material but sizes run small so order 1 size larger.Military-issue Tactical Riot Gear I think affords better protection & I would buy that now as best bang for buck. Stuffing girls in sixsixone core protector with spine protection may be better as breast plate can be removed.:)

Would be nice to be able to try one on first! Dam girls make **** harder! I like the specs of the sixonesixone. Again, thinking money?!, gotta think about the coats I just got 2 years ago thru Dennis Kirk where if I spent enough money got a coat for free...so was like buy one get one free with my gear plus what Art needed for the sleds. Am thinking will worry about the kids first and even if am off on their sizes, somebody can wear it?! My soon to be 14 yr old is almost as tall as I am. I'm 5'8" and have the lovely irish arsd barrel chest then add the girls?! So...am thinking can order 3 for the kids and see how it goes.

Thanks, WD!

Any gals out there to offer up info?

WTG for the kids go with Military-issue Tactical Riot Gear as velcro straps will be very forgiving as they grow & hand down. Got to say sixsixone would probably frame the big girls once you removed the breast plate but now nothing but bra or otherwise for protection. I bought my sixsixone at Dennis Kirk since I knew I could return if size was wrong but I did not pay $55 from DK. Much more. :( Sixsixone does run a bit small so order 1 size up. I have large chest & shoulders so always in 2X for upper body wear & found sixsixone to be a smaller 2X.

I think you should start a new thread for the ladies from a lady to find out how the female shape is accomodated in a protective vest as this post is not getting the ladies to jump in? It will not be a problem for the smaller ladies but if well endowed they have to be stuffed somewhere but also protected as heart & arteries in there too.:)

Whitedust...we're buying tonight.

14 year old has some questions for anyone out there. He was looking at the EVS. What is the difference between EVS and Demon Shield xcsp mentioned?

Anyone have any experience. Am probably just ordering for the kids tonight...so if anyone has advice for a 14, 12 and 9 year old...let me know! Thanks!

I don't have any experieince with the EVS or Demon Shield vests, just that the Demon is less costly and offers good protection, as well as being easy on/off with the front zip. Worst case, if you order it and for some reason don't like it, they state a hassle-free return, no re-stocking fees.

I see EVS has a couple types of vests:

Thanks for your help, xcsp and whitedust. This is the one Sam picked after researching options.

http://www.xsportsprotective.com/fox-titan-jacket.html

I gave him options and then reviewed the choices. I hope we picked the right vest. If not? Well, there's always the option of sending it back. We have some time til our next ride.

Have some other decisions to make for the smaller fellas in the riding family...will let you know what we picked! That awesome military one that you pointed out, WD, isn't gonna be small enough for my little guys. Sam was always a bigger kid and could get away with bigger sizes. My middle and youngest sons are SKINNY little dudes so have to look at some more kid options out there and then decide.

Again, thank you ALL who helped me (us) out with this decision! We have until the end of Feb for the next family ride. Sam's should be here this week! He's excited and counting the days! :)

Specs are a lot like sixsixone & I think he will like it. Too much arm protection for me but never too much protection for a young boy for multi sports. Good choice! :)
