Hotel room theft in Houghton last weekend

The more I think about the more it sounds like someone knew something - you had some very nice ($) stuff in there, probably much more so than the typical room. Could be a coincidence though.

mjkaliszak - you probably have to worry more about the boyfriends than anything else!

Inside job all the way & you were set up. I always block door to adjoining rooms to avoid that set up & chain door. On the road my entire life so people can get in if you don't use chain. One time I came in late turned left should have turned right put key in lock walked in & guy sat up in bed witn TV on. lol. Did 360 walked out found my room went in laughed wondered what that guy had to say to front desk? Another time 2AM some Ahole pounding on my door stopped by chain saying this is his room. Told him to f off go to front desk & went back to sleep. Mix ups whatever people can get in so use the chain or block the door..lol

Ok. 180 lol .... muttered "sorry" too. Funny the guy didn't look out his door after I left either. Must have been my 3 piece suit he still had suit pants, shirt & tie on. I think we were =ly surpised. He sat straight up but did not say a word. All tooooo funny to me not sure what he thought? :D

tell us the hotel!!

Tell us the hotel. If there's not some level of security I want to spend my money somewhere else. Otherwise they won't do anything. You'll leave and then the situation is over for the hotel.

The Hotel owner has/will not return my calls at this point. We are going to be sending a letter with our view on the issue to the owner one of these days, and proceed from there as necessary.

A simple suggestion......

The Hotel owner has/will not return my calls at this point. We are going to be sending a letter with our view on the issue to the owner one of these days, and proceed from there as necessary.

Smart! And document ALL correspondence. Furthermore spend the $50-$100 and send the letter on your attorney's letterhead and certify from USPS. This will show the owner the seriousness of the situation.

Sorry to here about your misfortune. We take our snowmobile vacations with our two Dobes, that could be intertaining if someone broke in while we are sleeping.

The whole thing sounds fishy to me. They broke in while you were sleeping? The lock was broke? Your buddy was still at the bar?

Hmmm maybe you better not name the place

I have met and ridden with thebreeze and I totally trust his story. With that said, I have asked that he not give out the name of the hotel as it would be in violation of the bashing rule for the board.

Like I say, I believe his story, but that is because I have met him and know he is a stand up guy. Allowing him to post the business name would set a precedence for others to do the same and things could get ugly quick with anyone having a beef and then making up stuff about a business.

I stayed at a hotel in FonDuLac that the lock wouldn't engage fully, I didn't realize it at first until the kids just pushed the door open when they knocked after being at the pool. I made sure nothing was kept in the room that I couldn't afford to lose. Reading these stories I think I'm going to make sure I block the door from now on when I stay somewhere.

I wish I was lying about the theft, as it would save me a chunk of change! I won't be naming the establishment. If there is anything to be learned from my experience it is to make sure you are diligent with the security of the many expensive items we all carry with us while on snowmobile trips. I have always been pretty laid back when it comes locking things up etc, but this learning experience will surely change my outlook on such things.
