Buying a 94 Polaris XLT 600 Triple

I am looking for some feedback on a 1994 Polaris XLT 600 triple. The sled has 3100 miles on it and appears to be in really good shape. I have owned several 600 twins but never a triple. Would like to know what I am getting into, good or bad. Thanks

If it's completely stock and for the right price... it's your money. If it had pipes on it and modded out then I would walk the other way. Way to many problems with the XLT triples. I wouldn't pay more than $400 for that sled running in perfect condition. Stick with what you know and get another twin.

weak float valves, replace every couple years. Horrid fuel milage, suspension not up to modern standards, makes a Yamaha R-1 ton seem light. Otherwise a great sled.

Don't walk away (RUN AWAY).
The PTO side seens to be weak on those. My buddy had a 95 and it blew twice at the tune of about $1800 to rebuild it each time (took out the crank). The sled sounded sweet when it was running and was fast on the lakes.

Could have just been bad luck on his part, But he was afraid after the 2nd rebuild to hold her wide out. So he sold it and moved on. If the price is right you can take the chance and it may be just fine, but if it blows they seem to be costly to fix.

Good luck

I bought a 94 XLT Special new. It was one of the best sleds I have ever owned. I rode it 18,000+ miles and what finally killed it was the clutch grenaded and bent the crank. The 94's as far as I know didn't have the crank bearing problem...that all started in 95. As far as fuel consumption...mine got 11 to 12 miles per gallon. But it is now 18 years later..so use your better judgement on purchasing such an old sled.

Sled rental is $250 per day, at $475 you are ahead after one weekend!

I have a 98, the M-10 suspension will shorten your height a bit!

There is better stuff out there. You are looking at a 19 year old piece of junk. No riding left this year anyway. Wait until about May. Folks will be selling their snow toys cheap to make house payments by then.

Love the ride when it was running, but I too had a terrible time keeping the triple synced and running. Buy the suspension.

I had a 1993 XLT and loved it. I really liked the sound of the triple compared to a twin. No issues with it and I've had many M-10's and loved them all! It's very important that the suspension is set up right for driver weight, a little adjustment can make a big difference. If that's what you can afford, I'd go for it. If you buy and need a manual for M-10 set up, let me know, I have it in a word document I could email you. Good luck!
