We all do stupid stuff. I jackknifed my trailer right into the left rear fender of the truck. I didn't have any lights on and it was dark...I thought I was good until I heard the crunch. Salt shield bent and fender. $600 + damages. Dang it!

Should've looked better and had lights on...bla bla bla

I have I good one I was hauling a bobcat with a pickup truck parked on a hill face downward.Put in park "check" set the parking brake "check" block the rear wheels "check".You know safety first what I wasn't counting on is when I was backing the bobcat off the trailer the rear wheels of the truck picked up off the ground about a foot over the blocks and down the hill I went. The truck only went about 10 or so feet because I hurried up and back the rest of the way off so the tires would get back on the ground.Nothing got damaged but I almost had to go home and change my pants.

Yesterday I am loading up a sled, and I thought of this thread before I did anything, so I double checked that the trailer hitch was closed, 'cause I ain't no dumb azz....Loaded the sled and off I went.

Decided to stop at the market for a coffee. Pulled in to the parking space, and decided to pull a little further, heard this loud grinding noise. Odd, I know I greased the bearings. Well market wasn't open yet, so decided to fill the tank. Drove out of the lot and had to pull over to see what the noise was. Of course, since I live in a small village, by this time the entire collection of my friends in the market are standing at the window pointing and laughing, because I have been driving through town with the ramp dragging.

Thats funny stuff....And reminds me of a story about one of our members here on the boards.

He has along driveway to his house and on garbage day he would hook his trash can to his trailer hitch on the truck, to take to the end of the driveway.
Well, one day he forgot it was there and headed off to work. As he was going down I-96 at 70 miles per hour poeple kept pointing to the back of the truck. He finially remembered it was there and stop on the shoulder to put in the back of the truck. And lets say the wheels were a little crippy on the trash can.

Lets see if he chimes in and fesses up !

This reminds me of a good one too.
I was driving along I-35E St. Paul. I'm driving in slow lane. The normal amount people are passing me in the fast lane. All of sudden I notice the traffic passing stops and something odd is passing me. I turn to look and it a empty trailer going about 60 MPH straight as an arrow in the fast lane passing me. The crazy part is it never went crazy. It just basically slowed down like a car pulling over in the center median.

And always close the door to your truck topper before exiting the garage......seen my Dad do that a couple of times when I was younger. It makes that rectangular window into a pretty, diamond shape very quick. Funny, come to think of it, my Dad hasn't had a cap on any of his last four trucks.......I wonder why that is?

I have a friend who had 12 foot enclosed trailer for sale, it was chained to a tree in another guys front yard. The guy was comming home down a nice streight strech of road and looked up to see the trailer comming out of the driveway behind a S 10 Blazer when the guy started to pick up speed the trailer started to wip back and forth, apparently it was not down on the ball all the way on wrong size ball on the thief's truck and came unhooked but chaines are holding. Now the trailer started wipping so badley that it came off the Blazer crossed the road, went off the road into a shallow ditch and the tong dug into the dirt, trailer did a complete 360 endo in mid air and landed back on it's wheels. The guy had pulled over when he saw the thief pull out on the road and he had a great view of the hole thing but was so dumfounded he didn't even get a good look at the Blazer or who was driving. After he went and got my buddy and they went back to get the trailer all they had to do was clean a bunch of mud out of the tong, it nerver put a scrach on the trailer. dan

Working on an old boat with my dad many, many years ago, and while repairing the outboard and other parts we somehow we got the throttle connected backwards. You know, the lever where when you move the throttle back, the boat goes backwards, etc.

Well, he says "we will get it fixed, but want to take the boat out first to make sure everything else works". OK, we back the trailer into the water, fire up the motor, everything starts and runs right, so lets back it off the trailer and go out. Yup, put it in reverse, little throttle, wont go anywhere. Gunned it, and went right off the side and front of the boat trailer right into the back of the van. Try explaining that one to Mom.
