Direct TV solutions

I currently have the Direct TV set up with the " choice Xtra classic package ". It runs 68.99. Then they tack on a plethera od additional charges for receivers & hd & dvd ... then smokescreen the total with some deductions ( adjustments & credits ).
I pay for 3 additional receivers which is what I would like to CHANGE . Is there any way available to havce multiple TV's run off 1 receiver ? The 3 additional TV's kind of kills me, it 's $18 " XTRA " a month and I can't justify the cost. They are the better choice of providers available to me but would like to eliminate the excess cost per year.

Does anyone know of a way around the 3 additional receivers ? So I could simply have 1 and pay for 1 but watch the DTV service from multiple TV's ?

They have 2 RCA and the one HD connection on the back of each HD receiver.

I do this, I run a set of cords from the living room TV box to the kitchen TV, and run those off 1 reciever. Sometimes I stretch a set of cords from there to the garage as well to run that TV.

You can get a dual tuner...two tuners in one box. Only thing is you can only get HD on whichever tv it is by.

If you get two of those, then it's just 2 boxes instead of 4.

I have dish network and I like them so far. Had DirecTV for 10 yrs and these guys are way better. But my equipment was 5 yrs old when I switched so that might be why it seems so awesome with dish. All the issues that people say they have with dish I have not had. They haven't been any better or worse than DirecTV.

This is a Dish thing, doesn't work this way with DirecTV, unless you run cords, you need a box per TV.

The thread below was on here about a year ago may be helpful, I don't know. It might be worth wading through?

But personally I have wondered about this too. It seems everytime I have tried to research it I got the same answers. You can do it but you will have to watch the same channel on both TV's.

It doesn't matter who you go through though, you are going to get nickled and dimed to death. Comcast does it, DTV does it, the phone company does it and your cell phone company does it. You will never get away from additional charges via the smokescreen as you put it.

But before you go and switch your service you need to call DTV and tell them what you are thinking and ask if there are any "deals" or incentives that you can take advantage of as a loyal customer to either lower your monthly bill or enhance your service somehow. I have had DTV for 15 years and almost everytime I call with a problem I get a resolution. For instance, every year we get the email that the Sunday Ticket is coming blah, blah, blah and it's this X amount. Usually around $300 (but I never pay that). I call and say I am cancelling my ticket and may be interested in switching providers. I always get a counter-offer right away on the price of the ticket and am happily on my way. Last year we paid $139 for the Ticket. And most of the time if you don't like the answer the CSR is giving you, hang up and call back because chances are the next one will be willing to "help you out" somehow. I personally have done that numerous times and never had to call back a third time, HAHA. The worst thing they can tell you is no go, joe sorry.

Good luck......

I learned if you call and tell them you are going to switch provider because they charge to much. You will be surprised how they adjust your bill so you stay with them.

When i had satellite service (cancelled because i got tired of paying over $60.00/mo for unwanted programming including 20 spanish channels...)my receiver was in the basement, and the wiring from all the rooms in my house goes into the basement to a junction box that the receiver was simply hooked up to. Had a pyramid? thing that transmitted the remote signal to the receiver. Worked great, but had the same program on all the tv's...

No NFL ticket with Dish but if you like them ask about the new Hopper a new DVR that records up to 6 programs at the same time & send to any TV in your house. Dish sucked for me in WI Northwoods 1 drop of rain & no signal for hours but that was at my house & could be different for others.

Thanks for all the replies. Pretty much stuck. I'm aware of the DISH dual receiver, I had dish until I blew a gasket with the CSR. My bill is over 100 @ DTV, due to their promotion running out after 1 year. It just seems like a racket.... I don't like all the shopping, spanish, and nonsense channels. But unless I go down to 1 TV ... I'm stuck. I remember the days of having one of those " Black " cable boxes where you could get every channel. Or paying a budd to uninstall the filters... I thought TV was expensive then. I only like watching a few movie channels, the news, and the Science Channels. H2 & H1 stuff like that.

I saw a couple aftermarket black boxes in Mexico where can receive everything all the time free. I was told it cost around $200 and every time they re-flash scrambling you will have an email within a couple hours of new code to override it. Bummer was the satellite company re-flashed about 30 minutes before the Superbowl.

I use a HDMI splitter that plugs into the HD receiver and out to 2 HDMI TV's. Works perfect.
Lots of them on E-Bay. You can even get a splitter that will do 3 or 4 TV's.
