Trailer sizes

Looking to buy an enclosed trailer, hopefully this year. What is the smallest sized 4 place; inline, deckover, etc? Have all 121" track sleds and usually just 3 go but want option of a 4th to fit. Limited on storage space so looking for deck sizes as well as overall length. Thanks

I would not count on 121 tracks being the standard in the very near future. 121 going the way of carbs with 128 to 144 the new norm for tracks. No value in a small trailer go big or forget it going to be stuck with an outdated trailer if you continue on your current path.

I looked at a lot of trailers earlier this summer. Sorry to say though I was really looking at 2 and 3 place ones so I'm not up on overall length of the 4 place ones. As I'm sure you know, the inline will be longer than the side by side deckover. I think you need to ask yourself what style you need. The inline is easier to see around when towing and probably easier to tow, but it all depends on what you pull it with. From my experience the inline maybe more expensive if you are looking in the used market. Not sure about cost comparisions for new ones. If your limited on your overall length in your storage area, the deckover side by side will work better, but the opposite is true if you have width limitations. Also, the inline may be short enough to get through a standard garage door, but the deckover may be too tall.

I really agree with whitedust, don't plan on the 121 being your sled a few years from now. The reason I looked so much this year, is because I picked up a use 128 and it was too long for my old trailer. When I bought my old trailer (a 10' deckover enclosed) the guy told me he could have sold it 20 times before I bought it if it had been a 12 footer. I thought, no problem I'm sticking with these sleds, and if I don't, I'll just buy a sled that fits the trailer. That was only 4 years ago and I already had to change trailers. Find something that gives you a little room to grow and make it work in both the space you have available and your budget.

A lot depends on what your pulling with and like you said storage space. I had a 4 place side by side for 10 years. It nice as you have to room for 4 sleds, but the ramp angles are steep. Mine was also a steel frame trailer so naturally it was a heavier trailer to pull. It was hard to see around and gas mileage sucked even more from the weight. I now have a 7 x 16 inline trailer and love it. I normally own have 2 sleds in the trailer but have had 1 -136 and 2 -121's in it. I now of people getting 3 -136's in a 18 footer. These are the length of the box not including the v. Good luck on your choice and hope this helps some.

hey, thanks for the input/info. do know sleds are changing and 121 will probally be a thing of the past but i mostly trail ride. pulling shouldnt be a problem have a 3/4 ton but definitly looking at aluminum. buddy has a 4 place deckover and he is all over with it. its a steel frame not sure how he loads but says handles like crap with a 1 ton. if i keep on my property i have about 26' overall with out making changes, but could possibly find somewhere to store if had to. heard of some get 4 in a smaller inline reverse loading them each way just may be a pain to do. only get 2-3 to head out at same time but like option for more room. should go with what other buddies say f everyone else just pull your own.

As sleds got wider so did trailers. Same thing with length now trend is longer than 121 standard soon will be 128 Cat does not make anything shorter than 128. Don't get stuck with with a trailer that is too narrow or too short for any reason. Just sharing mistakes of the past to keep costs under control lol:)

ive got a 7.5 wide 18 long with a 5 foot v and can get 4 in no problem even with 2 136 inchers. pretty sure i could get 3 136 sleds in but not sure about 4. no backing in just drive on drive off.

Really? How is that possible? I'm curious. That extra 1/2 foot must make all the difference. I have a rnr slasher elite. 718. 18' + 5'v , 7'wide. 3 sleds easily. No way i could get 4 in mine without pulling some in and backing some in. Or without removing ski loops. I tow it with a 1/2 ton crew sierra. Get 10mpg average.

The extra 6in. Makes all the difference. It allows u to put the skis right up to the a arms. Mine is a r n r also and I'm pretty happy with it. Pulls great and at 75 I'm getting about 10 mpg with a nifty f150
