The Prairie Riders will be holding their 19th Annual Grass Drags and Power Sports Swap Meet on Sunday October 7, 2012.

Our Snowmobile Grass Drags will take place on a 500 foot 4 lane track with 1,100 feet of shutdown. And new this year the Prairie Riders have invested in a new state of the art timing system by Race America. A large investment made possible by the Racers, Swappers and Spectators over the years, thanks to all of you. As in the past we run for Trophies only to keep our entry fees low and allow participation for everyone. A very diverse group of racers compete with us each year, from the first time racers to veteran semi and pro racers. This is the place to come out and try grass dragging for the first time or 100th time. We expect 125-175 race entries with registration from 8-10 am and Racing beginning at 11:00 am. We run 20 classes including Stock, improved, Modified, Vintage and a Mini Class for kids that is free, all kids receive a trophy. All Classes are listed below on our Registration sheet which you can download.

Our Swap Meet continues to grow dramatically each year, last year we had 270 swappers and 20 Vendors. It has become the largest snowmobile event held each year in Illinois. While still primarily a snowmobile swap meet, there are many other power sports items in the Swap Meet. We saw an increase in all types of power sports in the swap area including ATV’s, Dirt Bikes and more. Remember your $10 Swap Site Fee is for one site as big as you need. If you have 2 Vehicles you need two sites.

why is it only on a sunday dum not to have it on sat as well

It would be hard if not impossible for our club to do this for 2 days. Remember this event is run under the idea that it will remain a cost effective Race and Swap event so anyone can come out and enjoy it and promote our great sport. I don't know of another event of this size where you can get a swap site of any size you need for $10 or Race your Sled for $15. Everyone you see out here is on their own time, nobody takes a dime. Anyone in a club knows that getting volunteers out to an event is always a battle. We are very fortunate that our club supports this, members and many non-members alike. If we went 2 days our insurance would cost more, overnight security costs, Land rent costs, overnight problems with partying, (no alcohol is allowed on the property) etc. So it will remain a 1 day event to keep the costs down for attendees and ourselves. All that being said we love putting it on and have a ball doing it. Looks like the weather is going to be nice on Sunday so hope to see you here.

Especially during NFL season. I'm looking at going, but don't want to miss the Packer game. So I'll probably come early so I can be back before game time which means I won't be able to see any grass drags.
