Armor / backpack combo Q

I was just thinking about this and wondered if anyone has any ideas.

For instance, the HMK backpack has the shovel that attaches externally which certainly provides some armor. It sure would be nice to have that backpack with a component on the front that provides armor. This way, I could ditch my Tekvest and have one unit that serves as a backpack, front and rear armor. This would make my gear less bulky, heavy. Any thoughts (or know of someone making this?).

If you don't mind...........I would love to run with this idea. It kills my Tileguy back to be so straightened out by a Tek vest and a pack pack, feels like a darn 2x12 plank on my back. fine if you got a good back and you are not a knuckle dragger like me. There is a market for this idea I am sure. p.s. Mikey I hope you enjoy that backpack I just sold you, I got rid of all 5 that I culd not get used to.
I feel that a tek vest far out weighs a backpack if you have to choose. Sure many will argue, but my arguement is,"What the heck good will my pack do me if I am buried." It is an odds thing. Carter and Lefty any input on this?

"What the heck good will my pack do me if I am buried." It is an odds thing.

"Odds" are, if your buried you have also been separated from your sled. If you are lucky enough to have your friends dig you out, you still have all your survival gear on you. Now, you can also assist in searching for other victims in a multiple burial situation, and you have the means to spend the night if need be, since you don't have a sled anymore.

The modular Tekvest thing seems like a good idea.
I guess it also wouldn't be too hard to incorporate a front armor piece to a back pack. Seems it would be pretty easy to hang a chest protective plate off the front of a pack. Just attach it to the shoulder and waist straps of the pack. That might be better yet!

I think that finding my sled would not be so hard? Heckl it is almost 12' long and has a dozen trail permits on it yet never sees trails??? So many variables? My tek vest has saved me and my pack has not, (thank God) so far. I got an idea.

thanks for the replies and feedback. That tekvest option looks kind of like what I'd like to see, but I'd rather have a zipper front (or side/ angle zipper). I looked around the tekrider site and there really isn't much info on it and the price is pretty silly.

If someone develops this, super! Maybe we are onto something here!
