Check out Wolf lake http://www.wolflakemotel.com/ Baldwin motels are not that close to trails, they are mostly south of town. Trail runs at north end of Baldwin. Cloud Nine http://cloud9baldwin.com/ looks nice but legal trail access looks dificult. Wolf Lake Motel is popular for sledders. No major chains in that area.

I've stayed at Cloud 9. Reasonable, simple, no-frills. As PR1 said, not right on the trails but getting to them via snow-covered roads wasn't too bad. If low snow you'd probably have to trailer. Disclaimer: it's been 4 years since I stayed there so I can't say what might have changed since then.

http://thedaystarmotel.com/rooms.html I see snowmobile trailers at both places all winter long. Both are close to Peacock LTD. a very good dealership for all makes and models of sleds, atvs and dirt bikes.
The guy that owns the wolf lak is an ahole..stay at baldwin creek..we steelie and salmon fish the pere marquette twice a year and stay at the baldwin..nevr sleddd the area tho

I only know of a woman who runs the Wolf Lake Motel. There was a Wolf Lake Lodge a bunch of years back that had horses to rent in the summer, that is a different business than the motel and Inn. A guy that was rather rude ran the place with the horses. Both rented rooms to sledders. There is also the Day Star motel across from Wolf lake Motel. Both are near gas/party store.
