Trail Bridge Collapse

MI-TRALE was there yesterday and will be posting signs. They have contacted the DNR, County, MDOT and ONF. We will be working on a re-route. At this time you can take the SB east to the NR (which was resigned yesterday) north and get on the Pioneer Trail there

That sucks. Bridges are very expensive. I recommend looking at a ConSpan Bridge to replace it. Have put a few in out that way and they seem to work very well. Also we have an old 48' steel RR Bridge frame that we would be willing to sell if could possibly make it cheaper. We would just want to recoup the costs that we have into, not trying to make $$ on it. Let me know if we can help. dave@trailsinc.org

Was this an old bridge? Seems this should have been inspected by someone to be sure it is safe to cross prior to the season opener.

Dave...you have peaked my curiosity on the Railroad bridge. What the heck did you buy it for and how did you haul it away? Or is this one of those trick questions to see if someone will by the brookland bridge and laugh all the way to the bank?

anonomoose - Was part of a RR bridge around the Alpena area that was being rebuilt or torn down (can't remember, was about 10 years ago). A friend hooked us up with the right people and they were going to scrap it so we paid them the scrap price plus a loading fee. Moved it on a 53' flat bed. It's just the steel frame, have to put a deck on top of it and railings. It was one of those things you just couldn't pass up.
Brookland bridge... lol...

Mrsrunningbear - Sounds good. Will try to go snap a picture of what we got tomorrow. Hopefully it works out for you, I haven't ran the numbers to see how cost effective it is, and your permitting process is going to dictate what you will be able to put in. Conspan bridges and concrete box culverts are other options you might have to consider. UP Conc. Pipe in Escanaba is who we use for a supplier and can help you out alot. I will be glad to help you out with what I can.

The bridge just outside Bergland that connects the Pioneer trail to the SB grade (trail 13 and 8 for snowmobiles) has collapsed. I am not aware of any other legal connector at this time. Thanks Tom from Bergland Bay Bar for posting. Picture on the link below.

That is pretty scary considering the fact we stopped ON that bridge less than a month ago for a decent amount of time when we saw that turtle.

Well we finely have the County committing to owning the bridge. The bridge is being removed, we're (MI-TRALE) hoping the embankments can be saved because that will make things easier for all the permits. We have located a bridge (thanks groomerdave) We're working on it, it's a slow pace, but we're working on it

This year you will have take the SB to the NR and go north to get to the Pioneer
