Hello everyone here is what is happening at the North Country Snowmobile Club in Ontonagon MI.
In April we had a complete change in Officers and a different outlook to the future starting with anew interactive web site which you can find at
www.northcountrysnowmobile.com
We are getting a new Groomer bringing our fleet to 3 so we will have a backup for extra grooming or break downs. also if an area club has break down we can help them out.
The Village of Ontonagon is working very hard with us to make our area a place of warmth and welcome!
Thanks Jim Altenburg President

That's good news! I've always enjoyed going up to Ontonagon in the past and stopping to see Jarv at the Dry Dock bar. But to be honest, trails up that way just haven't been as good as the rest of the area for a few years, so we usually skip that area. Where most areas get groomed daily, that area seemed to be very hit and miss and more often miss.

It sounds like there is a fresh attitude up there and the 3rd groomer will help big time! I'm glad to see you promoting the club and we will make a point to try the area again this year. Best of luck!

Hit that area last March. Found a really cool climb that over looked the lake. Never found the name of it. Liked the diverse terrain in the area.

This is good news and Now with Jimbo leading the cause we should see some serious improvements.

Also, don't forget to visit the "Pitstop" in Greenland for food and drinks. You will find out it is well worth the visit, home made Pizza,,, great prices! Jim is on the ball and does a great job. Please consider giving them a try if you are in the area, you can also get ethanol free gas right across the street at the best Yamaha/Polaris dealership in the UP.

It is nice to have confidence that the trails in and out of Ontonagon will be consistent now, thanks Jim!!!!!

I didn't put Jim and the Pitstop together, but yes, they have done a great job there! We loved the pizza last year. This makes it even better news! rp7x and I will be eating there or the Bug Bar tonight!

The club should do real good and be very happy with a great new leader. Jim is also the VP for MI-TRALE and we have really enjoyed having him on the board. Working together is a great thing and something Jim strives for. Should be a great season for North Country!!

rp7x, gmansnopro and I had the opportunity to meet Jim at the Pit Stop last night and what a good guy! He came up to us and welcomed us as we walked in and then sat down and talked with us for several minutes when he was trying to get out of there after a long day. I asked him the same question about the groomer and it's a Piston Bully! They have to go to the Cities for a couple of days of training soon. Be sure to stop by the Pit Stop and support Jim and all the efforts he is putting in for us sledders and atver's. He's really working hard for both. The food is good too!

While we were there we also got to meet byrn71 and his wife! They are great people too and fun to talk sleds with! It sounds like she could school me off trail, that's for sure. We all then headed over to Beer Belly Bob's and ran into Lenny's wife Dianna. Lenny and BBB were at the Milwaukee show. It was a quick trip up there but had a good time and enjoyed meeting new JDer's.

Yep, sorry we missed you too! We knew you'd be in Milwaukee from your posts, but we will catch you next time for sure! We just got some wood and propane stocked at the camp rp7x and the crew stays at when we off trail ride. We only stayed one night as we all have tons going on. This is the weekend we would have helped John with his wood if he hadn't gotten it all done that day. Take care!
