gps info

I know this has been talk about here ansd there.
I tryed a search but came up with no results.
I HAD a garmin 276c for my sled, remounted it on my rmk and had it facing up,
so all i had to do was look down to see informaion.
I always had it mounted in front of the speed tac but wanted to see the tack.
I guess after the 3rd or 4th roll over in the montains the snow must have gotten moisture in side because the
screen fogged up, work a little bit now nothing.
Called Garmin and they said they can't fix it to old, heard that before with eletronics.
What is everybody else using i did love my 276 because it had a big sceen,
garmin said maybe the montana just seeing what everybody uses.
Thanks

Montana would be a great replacement. Screen is easier to read in the sunlight; physically smaller yet actually bigger screen. Better chipset to pull birds (no lost reception in the woods like the 276 can do at times).

Garmin has not really updated the x76 line with modern hardware, nothing with that feature set with buttons anymore, just touch screens.

Thanks 2trakr for the info, once you have a gps it's hard to ride without it.
As for the Montana how does the touch screen work in the cold? That's why i liked the
276 because you did not have to take off your glove to change screens or get more info.
As far as reception yes it did have problems in the wooded areas.
It just sucks I"ve had it for about 5 years now and just bought a new battery for out west, but i have it hard wired to my sled or cigarette lighter for cars.
I know there are other people useing gps's can youo please chim in.
I tried a search for it in the search window and no info.

You can zoom in/out with gloves, but otherwise, I find the gloves have to come off to do anything precise. That applies to regular buttons too, at least with the winter gloves I use. Have not seen any issues with touch screen and cold.

Some of the Zumo models are sort of a hybrid, they are touch screen and have buttons spaced with gloves (street bike) in mind. The 550 is like that. Seems like you can't do all of the functions by button, but can do most on it. The other Zumo are all touch screen.

Garmin 500 and 550 nuvi's (I have the 500 on a Ram Mount) are waterproof and work well IMO. I can use my gloves to work the touchscreen. The screen is a bit small to me but the pricetag for the bigger screen units are way outta my range.

I have been running the Montana for three or four years now. It's the best unit I have ever used. Its a unit that will go from car. truck, sled, ATV, boat, hunting, hiking, You can set up a profile for each and get to them very easy. Love the touch screen it does work with gloves. Its water proof works in the cold. In MHO its the best.

I ended up going with the Montana, Garmin gave me 20% off any gps since they no longer
repair the 276 so the helped a lot with the price.
I've been useing a gps for years ridding and hate the thought of being without it.
Went with the preloaded topc maps so i have that out west.
the maps are a copple bucks.
Thanks for the input everybody
