The stars have not completely aligned but....

They are close for me. The last couple of years have been terrible for me for sledding. Between cancer taking my mom and then the next year my wife hurt her back it made for very little riding or time to ride for me. The economy has not left me a lot of expendable income to allow for trips to the north on top of it. Then this year the southern part of the state has had some good snow…and it looks like more snow to come. Two of my buddies from work want to do a trip to the north to offset some cost so that is in the plan for a couple of weeks. Unfortunately my wife hurt her leg pretty bad a couple weeks ago on the sled but has really been a trouper and toughed it out (she really likes to ride also) but doesn't look like she is going to be able to handle a trip north. So far this year I have close to 800 miles on and have only left the yard with the trailer twice for 15 miles worth of driving….don't know if my mom is looking down on us or if it is because my buddy sold his sled…I am going with my buddy selling cus it sure is fun to give him crap….so I decided to loan him one of my spares for the trip north…been thinking hard about dumping two of my spares because used market seems to be good but hard to part with two good machines…Hope everyone else's year is going good so far also…keep it between the piles and ride hard..

Glad to hear you are getting some miles on this year! :)

I was just thinking this morning what a great year it has been! A guy could complain about the cold, but I'd rather have that than less snow and it melting! No thaws this year! :) It would be awesome to have a couple of decades in a row with winters like this now since we've had some bad ones recently around here.

You might feel different if you lived up here in the Keweenaw for the past couple of months. I have always loved winter, but, this one has been on the brutal side. Too much time on the end of the shovel & behind the wheel of the plow buggy & literally no time for the sled. If it wasn't work, it was working on snow removal twice a day, then roofs to clean, then too friggin cold to go. When there was a decent day to go, it was during the work week, I can't seem to win this year, at least yet. So far, not 1 mile on, hopefully that can change soon. If one wants to experience a Copper Country winter in it's truest sense, come on up & hang out for a few months, I'll be happy to share the winter duties. "A couple of decades in a row with winter like this", not for me, I'm almost ready to throw in the towel. Not LOL either, just plain ole burnt out.-Mezz

I guess I was referring to my area, not the UP. We can never be happy, can we? It's either too much snow or not enough, too cold or too warm. I would imagine I would feel the same as you do if up there, as I'm even tiring of moving snow here and you get as much snow in a week as we do in 2 months!

I didn't say I want it gone, just want to be able to enjoy the winter offerings rather than work in it 4 hrs a day every day for the past 50 + day's & in pretty painfully cold air, just plain burned out. I'll be glad to let you do it for me. I know I'm not the only one up here that feels this way.-Mezz

I hope your stars do align up for you. After 4 years of great luck sledding I hit the bad luck streak this year. I did all kinds of updates and maintenance this off season and so far it just seems like the one thing I didn't replace goes out. then, i hit a stump and sled is in bad shape. Thats how it goes though. Looks like a new sled is in the future!
