Another Moose Video

The moose charges and a warning shot is fired. The comments on the video state they deserve it for chasing the moose down the trail. I've had deer run down the trail in front of me that didn't want to hop off because the snow was deep, so you just keep following until they do. Besides, the moose was clearly in the wrong because it didn't have a valid trail sticker displayed! Lol :p

Well done by this pair. Though I think I may have backed off of the moose much further, nonetheless, it turned out good for everyone.-Mezz

Finally, a healthy moose and a healthy outcome. It seems pretty simple.

Try doing a canoe encounter. It is Ma nature.

That's how you handle that situation and he was in much more danger than the guy that killed the moose. Well done!

Chasing a critter down the trail (follow it, okay -- but to me, closing the distance indicates chasing) and provoking it into a charge, then firing a warning shot into the air isn't really what I'd call well-done, but hey.....I guess it turned out okay for all involved.

I didn't see that part of the video. I tried the link above and it would never play for me, so I ended up seeing it on MSN.com and watched it there, but they only showed from the point the guy was off the sled. I must have missed quite a bit of the video. I'm gonna try the link above again.

It worked that time for me. I still don't think they were chasing it too aggressively. But the wife did admit at the end they could have kept their distance more and they will in the future. I still think it was handled well IMO.

I agree got way too close then got charged the warning shot was better than nothing. I had to do the same with black bears but bears a lot more shy than moose & I wanted that particular bear gone before my grandkids arrived so pursed him & scared the poop out of him. That bear was going full gallop with me right behind him shooting my 44 mag dang that thing is loud! lol

Warning shot definitely better than killing it, but should have been into a tree or the ground. That being said, I guess you do what you gotta do at a moment's notice.
