NICE SCOTT, HOW EXCITING!!
Enjoy thanksgiving!

I couldn't wait to give them the sled, it was too hard find time to get it over from the neighbors to work on it so I gave in and let them see it Saturday night. So far my son has washed it, had me buff it and he waxed it twice. I think they are going to have some fun.[/QUOTE]

Alright I have a decision to make. The Phazer I bought has a cracked up left side front panel...I picked up a replacement panel and have it in the garage. The question is do I fix the sled so there is no damage or do I wrap the piece and put it under the tree and have him figure it out that way?

I bought my 10 year old son a 1995 ZR 580 a few weeks back. I know it's way more sled than he needs but my co-worker was selling it for $400 and it runs great. I was so excited for him I never even thought about saving it for a Christmas gift. The only thing it needed was the shocks recharged and new slides. He has been riding a kitty cat and a 120 over the past 3-4 winters. He can't go on the trails until next year so hopefully he will learn to respect the power while he rides in an open field this winter.

Well, we were hoping for a white Christmas but he was stoked anyways...took it for a few laps around the yard. He has the pull start figured out already.

I have bought 3 of these vintage sleds this year for my kids. I picked up a yamaha 300 twin for $450 and a yamaha Bravo 250 for $250 both in great shape and running. The third is an Yamaha Exciter 250 and needs a little work, but only paid $100 for it. Buying in the summer is the way to go. There is years of fun to be had by 2 kids for little money.

I would like to pick up a Bravo for next winter. Where do you find them? Craigslist?

Yep...but you gotta be quick on the draw. If they're in good shape and reasonably priced, they'll be gone in a day or two. I missed on a couple earlier this year, and ended up with a nice Enticer 300 for $550. The guy I bought it from posted it on CL at 11pm, and I texted him I would take it at 7am the next morning. He called me back and said I could pick it up the next day. He said he had to turn down 12 people after he spoke to me and before I picked it up.

I picked up 2 1985 Excel 3's in July 2013 at an auction here in Indiana. 1 has 202 mi and the other has 216 mi. Planned on taking them to Waconia last year to sell but they ended up being perfect for the grandkids so they will probably never be sold now! Indiana is a great place to pick up older sleds. A lot of low mileage iron down here.
