lack of snow rant

this is the first year, in 16 years of being in business, that I have not had a plowable/saltable snow in the months of Nov-Dec. I can usually expect three pushes at a minimum those months...

Where's that North/North West wind to blow some snow off the lake? It's not looking real good for January in the extended forecasts, February is typically less than 1/2 of that, and March is usually nothing.

Yeah, we think we have it so bad because we can't ride from home right now, but I really feel bad for the businesses that rely on snow. It's such a short season as it is, they need all the business they can get in the 3 months of winter we do have. That's in a good year of course!

Hey Mark. There is always a standing invitation for you to come and ride right from my front door. It's the least I can do for all you have done for me. You can even bring that fella that likes to play with chainsaws so much.

Thanks John, we appreciate that! We have to take you up on that one of these days. I will bring rp7x as long as he promises to behave. I am heading up to Lake Gogebic on January 10th and will overnight in Copper Harbor on the 14th. I will waive as I fly past your place on the trail.

I sold my sled a few years ago. I gotta say, I don't miss these days of no snow. I get my snow fix running the groomer for our club, and I am missing that right now, but all I have invested in that is some maintenance work, not thousands of dollars to sit in the shed or trailer. It sucks. Don't hate me, but I'm ready for spring already so I can at least ride the bike.

Well, since we have absolutely no snow locally,... me and the youngin' got in the truck and took
a ride. I couldn't believe what my eyes were seeing! Just 32 miles NW of me it was pretty much
shin deep, groomed, and mid winter conditions. I had to call my bro and tell him I was at his cabin
and there were sleds everywhere. He says,... Na ah,.... Yep!
Just like Ya opened a door! Winter on one side,... November on the other.
Guess I'll be loaded 'em this weekend. Heading 3 hrs is one thing,... 32miles? HOLY COW!
Beats Cryin' I guess.
Doesn't mean I won't stop complainin'

TV Weather Comedy.

First off, Not only does Johns forecasts usually keep things in the ball park,...
He gives a realistic perspective on things,...
But I do like to listen to the local TV guys for amusement.

Check this out.

So,.. I get up on New Years,... go through my daily computer rituals,...which of course include
visiting this site,..checking the National Weather Service,...ect.,...
Then settle in for a day of FOOTBALL!
Well,... The NWS calls for a 20 percent chance of snow on Saturday at the time,....
around supper time,... the local TV dude has up to 8 inches of snow hitting our area and
even a NAME for the SNOWSTORM!!!!!
I almost fall off the couch!
HOLY COW!
Stay Tuned he says! It could change,... and totals could RISE!
Oh Boy! I gotta see this!

I WASN'T DREAMING!

It was Back ON!
Here Comes Winter Storm COLE AGAIN!
Oh Boy! I can't Wait!

It's Going to start at 11pm Friday night folks,...
No,...Wait,... 3am Saturday morning,....No,... wait,...
Sunny on Saturday now,...THEN WHAM,... up to 7 inches locally by
Sunday Morning,... then Cold,... No,.. wait,... Wintery mix Saturday
afternoon with 1 inch accumulation,... then 1 inch overnight,.. then,...
no,..wait,.. back to 4 to 7 inches!

Stayed up and watched a show with the youngin' last night,..
Went to bed around 1am and checked the TV dudes MOST UPDATED AND
UP TO THE MINUTE ACCURATE FORECAST!
5 to 7 inches!
Cool!

Woke up to sunshine and 1 1/2 inches! Maybe up to 2 tonight, but the radar
sure looks like it is blowing way past Cheeseland.
I just love the Drama this dude puts into the gig. He gets a Bonus for effort,...
and a Demotion to letter opener for accuracy.

I must say that the weather sure has been giving meteorologists headaches lately. They can't predict anything for my area. Goes north, goes south, or rains.
