If you are ever in the Bergland area, you have to stop by JW's Bar and BBQ!! We ate there this week and it was excellent! The smoke taste was just so good! Best meal I've ever had up there and I will be going back every chance I get. I can't recommend it enough.

I agree 100%!!! This place has great food, friendly staff & great service!! we go everytime we are Up at our place.

Wait a minute... BEST smoked meal you have ever had "up there"? Or is "up there" Bergland? :) Just razzing you Mark. I need to get a new smoker this summer and crank out some brisket, pulled pork and ribs for the next wood cutting party! :)

That's too funny John! :) As I was typing this last night, I almost put "other than John's amazing smoked pork". I was referring to "south of the bridge" ;)

I am not sure, but I think we got there around 7. I would think at least 9. Don't miss it, you won't regret it.

It's not the best location. Do you know where the trail crosses the highway just north of Bergland Bay Bar? At that intersection with the highway, it is on the north side of the highway and only 20 yards from the trail. Very easy to get at, but easy to miss if you don't know it's there.

Right on M 28 have yet to stop by there. Whenever I go by it's always at 6 a.m. next trip thru I will find the time. Love me some brisket.

Can you get them to relocate to let's say "Amasa"? Slim pickens since Rusty Saw Blade closed.

Who knows, maybe they will expand? I just hope they stay busy and stay open. Their food is so good, word should spread.

North of the old Mobil gas station? Last time I was in the UP, Bergland had a gas station(Mobil),a grocery store,and Antonio's restaurant. Whenever I hear of good BBQ...i go. We lost Famous Daves and im dieing for some good BBQ. Sorry if this offtopic but it seems Bergland has changed since i been up there(06'ish)

Famous Dave's will open in Hayward Feb 1 at a closed Chinese restaurant. They will be there until they rebuild on Round lake.

No, it would be east of the Mobil station a few blocks on the same side of the highway right next to where the access trail crosses M 28.

I will swing by and check it out when I am back for the Feb trip.

For those who drive up from the south, there is another great BBQ joint on 39/51 in woodruff/Minocqua, right at the 70 east junction called Bad Bones BBQ. Closed Mon and Tue and doesn't open till 12, makes his own BBQ sauces, try the brisket french fry dish, amazing.

Will add my 2 cents on the Berglund joint in a few weeks, thanks for the tip!
