Towing with 2014 Honda CRV

Just curious if anybody has towed with this vehicle? I have 2 place triton aluminum open trailer and 2 sleds. The crv has a 1500 lb. towing capacity. I only tow twice a year, once in the fall to take them up north and then in the spring to bring them back. I am downsizing from a Chevy Tahoe that I am currently trying to sell. Thanks in advance for your responses.

No experience towing with a CR-V, but back in the early '80s my dad towed a steel 2-place open trailer with 2 sleds with a '81 Buick Skylark fwd, 4cyl./auto. trans. Never had any problems with that-just don't plan to pass anyone.

I just switched to my Wife's CR-V. I hate it in the snow, no stopping and/or turning. If I keep it I will put snow tires on it next year. It might be fine if you haul the sleds up north before and after the winter season.

But I am used to my Excursion which gave up with 200,000 miles. So I'm a little biased in my opinion.

My brother tows 2 jet skis with a 1st generation CRV with no issues. That should be comparable except the sled trailer is probably wider. He does have a manual transmission. I think you'd be fine if you have suitable tires for the job.

I think your CRV has a regular transmission the 2015 have a CVT trans. I would not pull anything with a CVT. Your should be fine.

2002 that went through 12 spark plug blow outs and needed to replace one of the heads for the second time. Mostly I got real tired of the spark plugs blowing out. Didn't care to get stuck somewhere around Land'O'Lakes late at night @ 27 degs. below 0.

I'd be a lot more concerned with stopping rather than going........don't know the braking capacity of a CR-V but it can't be a whole lot........my .02

Just the subject of this thread made me laugh. Girlfriend has one. Seems to me like it would not get out of its own way and that's with just my 240lb but in it.
My Jetta TDI has more power!

I would think it would tow a open 2 place just fine. I would do it in drive. If it doesn't you could always rent a truck twice a year 2 get them up there and bring them back.
