Big surprise from the wife!!!!

This past Monday I was searching on Craig's list for vintage sleds. I found what I was looking for in a 1969 Ski Doo 12/3. I was talking with the wife about it as I sat in my motel room down here in Arkansas and she said why that one. I told her that was the sled I wanted my dad to buy but instead he bought a 69 Johnson Chalenger way back then. When I was a kid, the Ski Doo was way cooler than the Johnson and I was disappointed. So last night as I was sitting in my room, my phone text went off and I looked down and saw a picture of my dog with a sign around his neck saying "Happy Birthday Daddy" and he's sitting in front of the Ski Doo in my garage. My wife looked it up and took my future son inlaw, who is a sled dealer, and went and bought it for me. I just about flipped!!! It's in really good condition for its age and fired up on the second pull. Justin drove it right up on the trailer no problem. Now it will need some clean up and tlc, but it's going to be a great project. I can't wait to get home to see it in person and start on it. I'll post pics when I figure that out too. What a great wife I have!!!!!

That's a good story and thanks for sharing. Our neighbors had a 12/3 and it was much more reliable than most other makes back then. Not too great for comfort or in deep snow but no one cared back then anyway. They were good little runners, have fun with it!!

Classic Ski Doo.
I looked up in an old mag and ski doo didnt offer a 3 cylinder for the 1970 model year. In fact Bolens Sprint was the only mfg to offer a 3 cyl. Maybe it was just a one year deal ?
The 300 Olympique listed for $695. And $ 20 bucks more got a slide suspension!

A great surprise indeed! Your wife is pretty special to make that kind of effort.

It is very cool that it was a sled you wanted many years ago and now you have one. I think you’ll love messing with it and taking it on some rides but I have to warn you, the vintage thing can become addictive (so I’ve heard).

Congrats Mike, and have a blast with it. Also, we do need pics.

This is the text I got from my wife, Wendy. And yes she is a keeper. Can't wait to get home to start on this. In fact I have already ordered several parts for it.......it's only the beginning, lol.
