Leather suit fix up.

While tidying up my shop I stumbled on my old Thundercat leather snowmobile suit. I thought I had tossed it long ago. It is actually in pretty good shape but it needs some TLC. After I get the surface crud off it does anybody know of a product to apply that will make it look nice again? I have no experience in this area. Thanks.

x2 on the lexol leather cleaner but prefer meguires leather conditioner over lexol conditioner because it smells better.

Way back when during jury duty this chick reworked leather coats and since we could not discuss the case we talked about how to repair leather coats...lol She said that the best way to repair leather coats was to clean them then reapply the correct dye or sounded more like a paint for leather.

For your leather suit Grub I would try a little mink oil on a spot see how that worked. Leather looks very cool but too heavy for me weight wise now days.

X2 on the Mink Oil, it will condition & waterproof the leather as well as bring out the color a bit. Once applied, hang the garments near a heater or wood stove to allow to soak in.-Mezz

My wife has some mink oil. I don't know what she uses it for but I will steal it and try it. This is a pretty much an all black suit. Not like the gaudy orange and green jobs. And yes it is very heavy. Just like the Thundercat was. I remember that it was very warm and the wind did not penetrate it at all. The new stuff we have now does the same job but is much lighter. Hopefully I can get it cleaned all up and wear it on the vintage ride. I will hang a leaf spring someplace on my ZR so I will qualify for vintage.

Mink Oil is good stuff I use it on my leather snomo Trukke Boots shines up good & repels water but like mezz said give it a chance to soak in & will look pastie at first. After awhile find a soft cotton rag & can polish to desired sheen.
