Vilas Co. WI .......... west of Sayner over to Boulder was nice, Nixon Lake rd from Boulder to Black Oaks awesome... Conover to St.Germain 70/30 good/bad.....N/W of St G riding the "non" bar trails were good..... The trails run from bar to bar and in town were in need of snow...... but hey, Ive ridden much worse trails in the spring when melting with way more snow on ground.......I'm not saying the trails were perfect, but I found good rides and enjoyed.......Just my personal experience..... I am a sled ***** and will ride when not perfect..... Just slides and carbides.

Thanks for the help ....my riding bud lives in Sayner.... I live in Phelps so we are trying to figure out what direction to ride in Vilas if at all? Neither of us want to screw up slides or carbides for the season. I know Phelps unplowed Frs are very good as been on those & want to get on some FRs north of Phelps in UP just don't want to bring my bud thru Conover on crap trails to meet me. We had LES over weekend so every flake helps right now.:)

Anyone that thinks Vilas Cty was good riding between 12/30 & 1/3, has A. very low standards, B. doesn't mind abusing their equipment or C. loves to participate in amatuer "hour"

525, some great trails in the UP. We did ride from Watersmeet to Lando and it was thin but better than sitting home. Water between Bruce and Rockland, rocks in Rockland otherwise very nice.

Put on a quick 62 miles... Phelps trails suck but got me to the off trail stuff.... rode unplowed FRS up to Iron County UP & has 2x more snow than Phelps. Trail 2 midway between Watersmeet & IR has no base just 6" of fluff mixed with stones... got off that as soon as we could.....not sure what it will take to get that in shape. 2 ok if you took it slow but who wants to ride a grade at 35mph? Unplowed FRs were excellent smooth, flat & fast. Venturenorth put on over 100 miles most of it on Vilas trails..... now that is PASSION!

I heard the same thing from friend with a cabin in Presque Isle. Said not worth 7 hour drive yet.

Just checked my Carbides and Slides, 600 miles so far somewhere between the Wi state line and Lake Superior and my Carbides and Slides are still like brand new. Think I will stay home this weekend now that it is going to get cold.
