That sled (Sidewinder) is sweet guys, Yamaha got it right. You cannot tell it has a turbo on it and it absolutely rips. It may not be for everyone but it is one smooth, silky, fast sled!! It was awesome to be a part of that video shoot and a experience I won't forget:)

Is this basically the same weight as the current Yamacat?

Where was it shot at? If you can't say exactly can you give a general idea? How long ago?

Kip, lots of talk of the motor. Not much on the ride, handling and chassis. Was the chassis re-developed for this new engine to get the engine down lower? Did you get to ride it in different scenarios to get a feel for ride and handling?

Thanks!!

Yes, same weight so it's still not in the weight game. Motor is great and chassis does handle very well. Motor and turbo are centrally located. I did get to ride it in different scenarios and overall I was very happy with it. The 153 surprisingly handled very well through the twisties and that new ski worked very well. I also love that they came with the 1.75 inch track on the 153, should be great for the U.P. We rode them North of Toronto in Deerhurst. The chassis was not redeveloped. The fit and finish is much more like a Yamaha now as they did redo the panels and fasteners around the fuel tank which was much needed. Same turbo brand that Ferrari runs and the individual throttle bodies is a big plus. You do not know this sled has a turbo, absolutely no lag whatsoever and when you get in and out of the throttle it's right there all the time every time. It handle and steers very well and though I'm sure it's not for everyone it is a great sled and when people demo ride it I believe they will be impressed. 122 mph on the GPS and with a bit of gearing 130 mph! It rips and just pulls steady. It's so smooth you don't realize how fast you're actually accelerating. Yes got to ride with Rod and we had a great time. Jim, I'll talk price with you when I get back from the Poo show in Utah. The video was shot in the middle of February. This sled should really be driven before passing judgment. There's more to it that a turbo on a Viper engine. It's all new from the motor design to the clutches. Hope I could shed some light for you guys. Thank you:)

Thanks for your POV Kip - I have always felt you shot it straight. Even with the other brand you carry:).

So it is in the same chassis as the viper, with more Yamaha refinements? Did you guys get a chance to take it off into the powder at all? How does it compare to the viper with the MPI turbo?

Unless I'm missing something I still don't know if it's a Yamicat or from the ground up Yamaha pure bred. Anyone know?? Looks like a yamicat to me.

Yes, still Yamaha chassis. Refinements include new plastics and new fit and finish to the plastics. Also, the motor is totally designed from the ground up by Yamaha which includes fuel injection and all electrical, it's all totally Yamaha engineered when it comes to the drive train. Also, the individual throttle bodies is huge, this is where the instant throttle response and and instant recovery come from. Yamaha did the turbo to Yamaha standards, they got it right. Also, it's more than 180 HP. We all know the MPI runs 180 HP and this unit has no problem handling the MPI. You can get out of the throttle and get back in it and still pass up the MPI. It works very well. You guys are welcome:) I did not get a chance to ride it in the powder, conditions didn't permit it. Sorry, wish I could help more there.
