Polaris gained market share this year

According to their earnings release today - they gained market share but expect to ship fewer sleds next year. That their market share is their best in over 13 years - what is that, just before Poo brought out the Fusion 900 and Doo brought out the Rev? Below are some quotes.

And for the full season, Polaris retail outperformed the industry declining only low single digits and we gained share, achieving our highest market-share level in over 13 years. We climbed back to number one in the mountains and for the second year in a row, one of our AXYS models earned the prestigious SnowTrax TV Real World Sled of the Year.

Our model year 2017 product introductions, including seven new models, were well received. Global snow orders are still being finalized, but elevated Polaris and industry dealer inventory levels, along with our commitment to further drive any dealer inventory lower, will result in reduced model year 2017 shipments.

I own 2 of them but still LOL at this statement....After seeing the new releases for 2017 I see no reason the Lester boys will need to stray from the Polaris lineup for the next prestigious RW SOTY....LOL...should easily go to either the AXYS Assault or XCR. Cat and Yamaha have nothing new in the category and the new Ski-Doo will be equally as boring as in the past.

They are just talking to the stock analysts, who probably don't know a snowmobile from a side by side. They definitely don't know Snowtrax gives out 5 or 6 SOTY's so that all their sponsors get some love.

You are right about who they're blowin' smoke at....got to be wary when the award gets called "prestigious"

That is good news, any U.S. Company improving financial performance gets a pat on the back from me.
Now from the consumer side, they need to get their sled depreciation under control so us buyers don't get screwed over when we sell and can actually afford to buy a new Polaris each year. I'd be willing to shop a Polaris snowmobile vs. the Ski-Doo's I have been buying since 2004 if depreciation did not hurt so much. I am not a Ski-Doo/BRP fanboy as I doo (pun intended) own a Ranger 900 and would not buy the Commander (in 2015).
Just 2 cents from someone who wants to combine value and best product together.

X2, I agree 1fujifilm. It's a shame both the CanAm, and the Ranger are now built in Mexico. That's the reason we still own a made in U.S.A. built 2010 Ranger!!! With no problems as yet, I will run it til it dies!!!

If they reduce shipments like they said, that will help with resale. I guess it all comes down to making sleds people want though. Seems people weren't sold on the rush but the axys is a hit, so I bet those do better.

Well considering it's Polaris mgmt talking about Polaris products, I'm not sure what else you were expecting.

To see so many 2015 on up AXYS Rush's on the trails and then seeing Poo slash the prices like they did to empty out the inventory the past 2 years tells me that there is a huge margin that we the consumer and perhaps even the dealerships are not privy to.

I will revise my prediction and go with one of the Cat "RR" sleds as RW SOTY now that they softened up the shock package and the fact that the Lester clan will feel the need to spread the love to another manny....even though buyers will be flocking to the new Polaris offerings 3 to 1. Doo has to be looking over their shoulder a lot lately.
