The Ol' Gunslinger is going into the Hall of Fame this weekend. Many happy memories for those of us in Wisconsin (and Minnesota too). Two Superbowls for the Pack and darn near another one with the Vikings. The game he played against the Raiders a couple of days after his dad died, incredible. Probably one of his most enduring records will be the 321 consecutive starts, I doubt any of us will be around to see that record fall.
Some quirky memories too, like retire and un-retire about 20 times. Traded to the Jets and that business with Jenn Sterger, what the heck was that? Something About Mary, Driving Holmgren nuts, Wrangler Jeans, nose to nose with Warren Sapp, too many memories to mention.
One of my personal recollections, summer of 1992 Training Camp. I'm watching the guys warm up from behind the fence. Majkowski is the quarterback but the new guy they traded for is out there too. Nobody knows much about Favre yet. He's throwing 30 to 35 yards downfield....with his left arm. So I'm thinking "he's a lefty huh? Nope, just Brett screw'n around again.
Thanks Brett, despite the interceptions and the boneheaded plays, you made it fun to watch. Congratulations!
