Does any one know if trail 11 north will be open this year?
It would be great for us in the Winchester, Presque Isle area

The info I received yesterday from a member (a friend) of the grooming organization in that area is that TR11N (of TR2) to South Boundary Rd. and TR11S (to the WI border) is not expected to be open this year.

Just passing it on. Don't shoot the messenger.

I really don't understand why they cut this trail if they didn't intend to keep it open and groom it. For people west of Presque Isle it's better than going all the way to ONE.
Seems like a waste of money, but what would I know, I just pay the additional $40 sticker x 2 each year.

As I understand it the people that own the land on 11S are doing something on it (logging if memory serves) and aren't allowing the trail to be open. The people running the trail system up that way are in constant need of new faces. They can barely keep up with what they have now.....$40 trail permit or not.

Whether it's MI, WI or MN, paying for your yearly permit guarantees you nothing.

The area needs help with grooming and people to help.

Trail 11N has suffered from a few groomer sinking issues as well.

11S group has been posting the logging issue for at least a couple of years. Not sure how much more wood can be logged.

Sad to lose great trails in the region.

open the map I posted....see trail 14 and 11 intersection....theres a short road between south turtle and north turtle....take that to old highway O...I believe you can take that all the way parallel to north 11 and 2 or at least by pass the logging legally....theres got to be a goat path around theres somewhere....loved running in Presque isle...see if this map helps...it shows fire roads and goat paths sometimes...I zoomed in...looks like its called JOHNSON LANE

Doesn't matter how many logs, frogs or birds. If the landowner says NO then it's NO. End of story.

So these locals will take you on the trail huh? Last time I checked sled tracks don't cover themselves up. Is it POSSIBLE the landowners see this and say FU to the club asking for the trail to be open? Nah, this isn't trespassing in our current world.

We're hurting ourselves over and over.....
