Hey guys/girls, I could really use your help! Ski-Doo & Supertrax put on this competition every year called "North America's Top Snowmobiler" and I am one of the finalists! In order for me to get to the next round, I need as many votes as I can get! By voting, you are giving yourself an opportunity to win some cool stuff yourself too! 1 vote per day, per person until December 1st! Vote for Ben Hietpas and win yourself some stuff! It literally takes less than a minute and I appreciate everyone who takes the time to vote!

Only one of the 4 mentions being in a club. Of the 4 the choice is easy. Now I'd like to know how a person gets chosen in the first place.

1st comment is a negative one? All I was doing is politely asking for some support and also letting you know there is an opportunity to win some stuff yourself. To be honest, I donate every single time I see a donation bin at every single place I stop at. Not to mention the cash my buddies and myself put back into the communities spending hundreds of dollars basically every weekend snowmobiling throughout the winter. A lot of us run our own business and some multiple businesses at that. With families and hectic lifestyles, we are lucky to get away during the winter months to do the thing we are so passionate about, which is snowmobiling. So what is the difference if someone joins a club or not (absolutely not saying any of us are not members of one), or if someone helps the communities up north that are struggling to get by and also people who stuff cash in the donation boxes everywhere they see one? Those types of people don't look for recognition, they are simply doing what's needed for the sport. I am sure they don't want or look for a donation slip saying they donated.

Maybe you should watch the videos associated with each candidate and turn on your volume too. Just a thought. Also, to deter your follow-up post to this reply...we do belong to a club. Every one of us.

If you all want to see the true TOP SNOWMOBILERS and what they do for our sport visit the International Snowmobile Hall of Fame in Eagle River. Those inducted into the hall of fame for their lifetime commitment to snowmobiling as a sport are the real TOP SNOWMOBILERS. Snowmobiling wouldn't even exist if the one before us didn't pour their heart and soul into the sport. They already handed out the TOP SNOWMOBILERS of the year awards in September in Eagle River during the induction of 4 new members into the Hall of Fame.

That's awesome! Congrats to them all and we appreciate all of their hard work and dedication! Will have to swing in there and check it out on one of our trips this year!

what's the difference if you JOIN a club,. or just spend money in a community?
to me its a HUGE factor
as lots of folks in many places dislike snowmobiles and there trails
SO< your NOT just contributing to people that support trails , but can be supporting those that don'
t
JOIN a club and that money goes 100% to helping keep the sport alive
that's a BIG difference to me
and NOT bashing, just saying, there is a BIG difference\

also, if your USING the trails., you should be a member of a club , heck in my area, if your NOT a member of the club and caught on the trails its a few hundred bucks in a fine, and they patrol and so do local police depts with check points at road crossing
due to so many people trying to get a free ride!
NO free rides in life, IMO
want to play, , then support the game you play the best way possible
and that IS being a snowmobile club member, in all the places you ride

Couldn't agree with you more mrbb. To many people wanting to ride in the wagon instead of pulling the wagon.

I am trying to stay objective on this thread. I do wish all of these men good luck on their goal of winning this award. I guess there are different opinions on what makes someone deserving of being the "Snowmobiler of the Year." Obviously the criteria for this award is very different than what my criteria would be. To me I'd like to hear about the years of signing, brushing, fundraising, grooming, talking with landowners, promoting, etc. I'd want to see pictures related to these. My criteria would not require the number of miles rode, number of states traveled to, mountains climbed, or high you can jump. This is a different award, and that's OK. I guess I look at things differently, and I'm OK with that. I do honestly wish these men luck on their award.

Funny thing is, the guys in the trenches that deserve an award for keeping trails open and working would never be self-promoters for an award....which I think is a sled in this contest....was on another site last year and one of the self-promoters for this award was doing so because they felt they deserved it for being in a self-caused bad wreck and then being brave enough to buy a new sled once they recovered.....chit, ricky....just give it up.....you obviously suck at riding!....and some innocent sledder might get caught up in your bad riding skills next time you wreck!!!!!!!
