its like this but usually the 150 range is a 340 or something or some touring sled.....the 225 is a way nicer sled...but when I rent I always ask for the dali lama....pay more....get insurance....and actually steer good and rail safely and get one not all worn out....before you leave rental...I turn over sled and show guy WEAR BARS GONE....pls replace BEFORE we take these....as in NOW....check block in back so not set on low...look at shocks up front to make sure there not set on marshmellow...have fun

PS....do you RENT A WRECK or use AVIS?...LMAO

Trackside is $225 for weekends/Holidays if you get the 600's (Ski-doo MXZ or Polaris Indy) You can also rent the new XCR 600 for $275 a day if you're a big spender. If you don't mind heading about 20 minutes West, Paul's Rentall in St. Germaine is $180 a day, he rents Polaris 600 Indy's, they are clean and well maintained.

That's a good point. Bud rented a Poo 600 sled from what was Heckel's in Eagle River back in the day. We crossed over into the UP at Land O Lakes and I'm wondering why he isn't keeping up. Turns out one of the wear bars was so worn out it snapped off on trail 3. Luckily Headwaters helped us out with an old one they had taken off a sled.

Trackside rentals are usually in good shape, at least the ones another guy in the group rented. I think he usually rented that 600 carb that Doo has. One time rented the etec instead.

its KINDA not the rentals fault....but then it is for not checking em all....but due to the early hour and the fee if you return it late....I guide so I know.....the last guy had to go WOT down US 41 for 22 miles and then turn right onto a gradual gravel road for 17 miles at WOT with sparks....and he just barely makes it....ROTFL....then you come along.....DOH

PS...IMO if they eliminated the stupid turn in time and just made it midnite to midnite or something LOGICAL and not insurance driven...they wouldn't have beat up crap to rent and many more would rent for days....I don't rent if I have to turn it in everynite...I go somewhere else...or....this is what I been doing lately....I go to ADVENTURE CENTRE....say YO BOB....I need to purchase one of the sleds along the wall of shame....last one I did this way...and its a plus plus since after the rent...you get to keep the sled...win win...cause in the end...the rental fee woulda bought the dam thing...last one was a 1999 ZR 600 EFI with reverse and aboot 2500 miles for like 1800 bucks....was nice too...I had it for like 3 years and just totaled it last winter in a field in Westville....I made money doing it that way...just an FYI

heres another tip....I have rented em all....the best to rent by far is a CAT....and I am not saying this because I am pro cat...its reasons....one....EFI....no choking on cold days or pulling 50 times....no spare spark plug in yer pockets....no over heating....can run in rain....13 travel in back 10 in front....and many more good points than bad....I was a die hard YAMAHAMA fan but then I got wise....I did what mike Dunlop did....LOL

Dunlop had a poor start with race team Milwaukee Yamaha, and during the practice week of the 2015 Isle of Man TT, he dramatically left Yamaha to rejoin his previous team

I'd probably rent at this point except the guys I normaly ride with own and have truck/trailer. If we all rented we could just take a car. A lot of rental places have 23 hour rentals, say check out at 9 am bring back by 8 am. We've had mostly good luck. Rented out near Togwotee one year and had a clutch go bad and ruin a day. That kind of sucked...

In college we rented over Christmas break all the time from Eckel's in Hancock. Always good basically brand new Cat 570's. They weren't too much on RR grades but fun on the twistys. I don't think they are around anymore.

For me and the guys I ride with there is no better place to rent from then Timberline Sports in Bergland. Mark, Marlin and the rest of the team are the best. Every year they have brand new sleds, they are well maintained throughout the season, they are always willing to help and answer questions and most of all they are trustworthy.

Pricing is always competitive with others in the area. All of the above is why we continue to come back to the Lake Gogebic area and we see no reason to head anywhere else!

ok nuther tip....when renting and clutch goes out....I call the rental place and have them tow a sled to a halfway location....I tow the disabled sled to meeting spot...we meet...swap tows....WALLA....no day ruined....or have em bring a wrench and a clutch that's rebuilt.....wham pow....we ride...best one ever

I called rentals in west yellow stone....tell em we heading to wild bill hickocks hunting cabin on outskirts of park to stay the night....its dark out....I tell em we need a sled PRONTO....they tell me there is no one willing to tow a sled all by themselves at night with all the animals in the park out on the trails....too dangerous....I say....this is the FLATLANDER from Indiana....I am going thru sulivans pass in white out avy conditions and am on my way to the gas station in the park.....draw straws...send the boy....you wouldn't want some country bumkin to show ya'll up real bad now would ya? (they had been ribbing me...LOL)...guess what....boy Friday showed up shaking like a leaf and wanting to turn and go in 30 seconds...ha.....tough guys....bottom line...we had a sled in 3 hours or so...best night ride ever in my life thru Yellowstone at night...got to hickocks cabin at aboot 11pm or so in a howling sideways snow storm...by meself...towing a sled....just make em have grapes instead of raisins.....ROTFL

on the way back...went thru 30 buffalo within 2 feet of nostrils....went within 30 feet of wolves tearing an elk carcass to shreads and growling fiercly at me whilst I starred at em for a minute...almost slid off sulivans pass to the right going over 8 foot drifts on a cliff edge towing a dam riderless sled...and still made it in time for 3 hours of poker that nite

I have rented at Paul's and Trackside as well as Timberline and Cloverland in UP. Timberline and Cloverland buy new sleds every year. You have to ask for an extra belt, which I insist on. If I don't need it, I return it with sled and no charge. Easy to check carbides, if low, ask for another sled or replace, no big deal. Trackside and Paul's usually replace every 2-3 seasons. Anyway, rentals are my sled fix, I live in IL with no storage options so that's what I do. It might not be the 800 Assault that I would own if I had the place to store it, but it's a good 600 trail sled and I hammer it for 3-4 days and drop it off. No storage, maintenance, depreciation, or up front costs. Not a bad way to do it.

Like everyone else says, the walk around before leaving is for you as much as it is for them. If you don't catch the damage or worn carbides, they might hit you up for replacement!

Last year Trackside had a out at 8 AM back by 5 PM deal for a 600 4 stroke (top speed 60 mph) for like $95 a day. Freek'in bargain for about 240 miles of riding a day.

OK, here's my question, if Tracker can let me in here. Why don't dealers just keep some sleds for a few years and have staggered pricing? Kip has the idea with his SX Venom for a low price, but that is the extreme. Not everybody needs the latest and greatest sled. A lot of people would be happy to pay a reduced rate for a sled that will just get the job done. You can always have some new models for the people that want that, but if a rental place kept sleds for say four years and discounts the price a little each year, they might find more customers. After four years, a sled should still have some resale value at the end. I looked at rentals in Hayward because I want to check out the area and one of my friends rents. $250 a day. That's crazy and even though he has the money, I won't do that to him. So we are going elsewhere. I's very obvious just reading this thread that rental prices are getting too high, because I see that a lot of people have been doing research.

It's funny you should mention that Venom blkhwkbob. The mechanics won't let me take it out of the fleet, LOL! It's got over 16,000 miles and counting and they just want to see how far it will go! I make them perform a leak down test and compression test on it every year and it's still up to snuff. We're getting it ready for the season as we speak. Electric start, reverse, and 600 triple for a 125 is a pretty good deal and the damn thing rents out steady. My Vipers and Vectors are 225 a day and provide more snap than a 600. It's all about what you want not who's right or wrong. Some people have all the answers for you. My suggestion is do what you think fits you the best, not someone else. Hey, after all it's snowmobiling. Don't overanalyze it, enjoy it! Life's short! Just my humble Yooper opinion.

I do not rent. But if I would rent for what ever reason, it would be from Kip, or Timberline. These are both excellent, top not dealers. No Bull!!!!!

Just a good reminder of what Yamaha used to make. 16K miles on a 2 stroke. I know it's pre-EPA but still.
