Kalkaska to Mackinac Bridge?

Anyone ever done this? Wondering how long of a ride it is.

Great ride! If you left around 8am you would easily be there for lunch. It certainly depends on trail conditions and how you ride, but figure a couple hours to Indian River and then a little over an hour to get to Mackinaw City from there. If you go through Indian River proper, you should go the east route by Mullett Lake into Cheboygan and it's really easy going railroad grade. The only part that sucks is the speed limit for 8 miles along Mullett Lake, but it's worth it to go that way, just suck it up for that short stretch. Cheers!!

I live in East Jordan and can make it to the bridge in 2 hours flat if there is snow on back roads.
Go through Alanson and avoid the trail along Mullet Lake until there is safe ice.
Too many stops on trail along Mullet Lake.

Taking the ice is definitely the way to go when it's good, but if you're goin this weekend or the warmup later this week jacks up the lake, it's NOT that bad to run the rail grade along the lake with the speed limit and stops. Sheesh!!! It makes it 15-20 minutes through there instead of 7!!!!!

Well, I was planning on making the ride from Kalkaska to Paradise on Tuesday, however, between the warm temps and expected rain, I don't think that will be possible. I am praying that the west side fairs well, as I am certain that the rain and mass population for the holidays will destroy the Indian River/Gaylord trail up the middle of the state.

My riding partners are in Wolverine right now and claim that even with some rain and warmer temps it'll be fine. I'm not nearly as optimistic as they are, as we were actually planning something similar for Tuesday. I guess we'll have to wait and see what comes to fruition. PM me if you are still hoping to make something happen and maybe we can help. We have a backup plan of loading up and trailering over the bridge if the weather screws things up.
