Which is the #1 owned and ridden sled manufacturer?

I'm not brand loyal, I love em all.. some more than others!!!
One of my brothers sleds is a 2013 or 2014 ski-doo tnt with the 2 stroke 600 carb. I'm impressed with this engine and sled. Way cheaper than an e-tec, and a surprisingly smooth running engine, no flat spots in the throttle, and he uses cheaper brp mineral oil. Maybe a little less top end than a 600 e-tec but again way cheaper. To ramble on I guess I can see why rental places would like this machine. If I was looking for a 600 2 stroke, I'd be happy with this one.. probably a Polaris Indy too lol!!
Heck, throw an engine on anything and it's fun!!

I think location/market has a lot to do with what you see on the trail. When I lived in the Soo back in the early 90's Yamaha was the most popular sled for that area and time. This winter riding in west and central Wisconsin 70% of the sled we saw were either Cat or Skidoo. 25% Polaris and a few Yamahas.

Seems to me that might have been around the time that there was only a Yamaha dealership in town. There had been a Arctic Cat, but at some point in the 90's it closed.
Now Chippewa Motors (the Yami dealer) sells Polaris also, but that's been pretty recent

Doos for sure...still haven't seen any evidence from snod*ck.
Its a safe bet to take whatever he says and do/believe the exact opposite.

I didn't even see that many in NE wis. on two trips this year. in fact we were all taking a break on the side of the trail and a Yamaha goes by us and my buddy chimes in,,"hey theres a Yamaha". Like it's so rare to see one you gotta point it out.

I can only think of 15 yammi spotting's all season for me .

Northen WI seems doo is majority and poo and cat not to far behind. Dont see many yamahas. Also dont see many rentals where i ride. Here are the #s from 2017

heres something to ponder....the top rentals sleds happen to be the cheapest costing and made sleds....the better sleds they DO NOT RENT to any jack nape and harry....so with that in mind...its CAT....the least renting one is the best one IMO....you aint getting an M1000 if your not tested and proved to be good rider....but my daughter could rent a doo anywhere by herself....nuff said....so don't get your chest all puffy just yet DOO BOYS....LMAO

I have never understood why people are so hung up on who sells the most, what country something is manufactured in or the whole brand loyal thing. People need to have a choice in products because one size doesn't fit all. Buy/ride whatever fits you or your riding style best. People vote with their dollar when they buy a certain brand over another. The weak minded only buy Ski Doo, Arctic Cat, Ford or Chevy because Dad or their friends only drive that brand. Long live all four manufactures, they each push the other to make a better product.

But doesn't it make your blood boil when someone on the internet doesn't agree your chosen brand is superior to all others?

It would be fun to see actual registration numbers by brand for the four remaining mfgs going back to 1980. For Minn, Wisc and Mich. Yes, 'Doo sells the most now but there are still oodles of XC Pols out there. Pol was the leader for many years before 'Doo took over and pumped a lot of sleds into the system. Does anybody know how to find out actual registrations? Actually a good question. From snobuilder no less.

Sounds like a few of you ride the same areas I do between n. WI and the UP. but aren't seeing all the Yamahas that I am....i guess we are just noticing different things....not because I am on one either. I currently ride Poo.

Doo sells a ton of rental sleds but even without counting them they are 1 in sales I suspect.. ..just saying for the thin sliver of blue on the pie chart, there are a "ton" on the trails where ever I go.

It sure isn't Ski-Doo.
Renters sleds equal 0, squat, zip, zero in this equation.
Riding WI and the UP away from sled rental hot spots and the truth about what true sledders ride is evident.
Yamaha dominates when compared to sled sales stats.
All brands have a good showing but you would NEVER know by counting that statistics wise, Doo is #1.
Riding early in the day I see the Yamahas dominate.
To me they are the top tear of true sledders.
6% sales = 30% ridden, easily
Stuff it Doocult....LOL

What is the "top tear or true sledders" to you?
What is meant by "riding early in the day" opposed to other times of the day?

Higher mile riders and when we get out between 8 and 9 AM,....some days, ALL we will see are yam 4 strokes....could just be us older folks wanting to get back for the early bird special.
