Big life news!

So today I found out that I will be working at the Osceola, WI assembly plant for Polaris. I accepted an internship for manufacturing/operations back in November but knew I wouldn't get my placement until now. Still not 100% sure what exactly I will be doing, but maybe I will have had my hands on someone's vehicle or engine from this site! I go to school at UMN so I'm pretty familiar with the area, but if anyone has any suggestions for stuff to do/places to see, I have 3 months to explore.

Sled - congrats on your internship, big news for sure. FWIW - use to run an internship program for the sciences (think ME's, EE's, IE's, CE's, etc) at a fortune 10 company. Treat every day as if it is an interview, and you will be fine. Make as many connections with other professionals, from internship level up. Be the kid who goes above and beyond as much as you can. Anywhere from picking up that piece of paper that is on the production floor, to doing more than asked in a presentation. Dress for the position one level higher than you have. Don’t think you are above anyone, and treat all with respect. Tap into the knowledge of the “old timers” from the production line workers to the most senior operations manager at your site. These are the years you develop your work ethic, and if you are the shining star of the interns within the program, you will have a great foundation for your next chapter. Wishing you nothing but the best of luck!

Thanks everyone! I'm excited to see what comes of it. I've worked for the past two years doing medical device/machining so I've been in information soak up mode for awhile. Eric I'll reach out to you as it gets closer to the summertime. I'm slowly making the migration out of snowless IL to more sled friendly areas. Dickmsp, I was hoping for a 4 stroke this year, something like an ace 900, but we will wait and see.

That's awesome!

I would like to be the first from this board to put in his request.

A 250 lb (wet weight), 180 hp boondocking ninja that will get itself unstuck after I get it stuck! :)

Thanks!

John, I'll work on figuring out a way to strap a jet engine to your back and tracks on your feet. Maybe add some pogo sticks to just bounce out when it gets too deep ha! I was able to put an RMK on its side with minimal effort which is not something I can do with my Yamaha triple. The R&D is only 20 minutes west of me on the MN side, but maybe I'll get to see some cool stuff.
