going from Chicago to Houston....I was wondering if anyone knew a fast way by highway....how is 58 outta tex arkana,,,is that like a small old highway that takes you thru towns like US421....and is there a better way....like take 49 to 20 outta Texarkana and then 59....or is it better to take 30 to dallas and then 45 to Houston...or I-55 down to 10 and then over.....and you travelers....any good places to see or stop along the way? give me em all ideas

sorry...I was under the impression "my sledding buddies" and trucker friends might have some tips and things to do on some highways....I take a trip and when driving try to take the shortest way...but also to stop and smell some roses.... SNOWBUBBLES...thanx for the help anyways...so far I got zip lining and star gazing...and that will determine which highway I take....you guys ARE knowledgable...at what...we don't know....LOL...mapquest....grant....go to mapquest and try that.... ah I see a young smart kids opinion....you spot on dare slim....google maps shows you some....and places like trip advisor suk too because you need to know what to look for in the 1st place...there really is no good site yet that you can search along a route for fun and different stuff....you can search caves or ziplines or museums but that suks cause again....you gotta enter a key word....slim...is there a web site that you can be on a map and have it search along the route for any and all entertainment????....and slim....theres an app to make right there...and you'll be rich as h e double toothpicks...it needs to search fun things along a particular route....not the way they do it now with the red ballon all over the map....just balloons along the route you chose...and you can choose how far off the route you want...like 5 miles either side...etc....remember me dude with a royalty check will ya....I will take you to all my secret spots and give up GPS coordinates...that's like worth 7 million dollas dude and I aint kiddin'....LMAO....give me a link slim if there is one....other wise get cracking on that app dude....listen i'll give ya this first installment free....the name of the app

tracker, MY best advice is this
try and TIME your travels thru the busy citys at LOW traffic times, like the WEE hrs of the morning, or after like 10 pm, it will save you a LOT of time
other wise, I say stick to main hi ways, higher speeds (and most folks go past the posted signs so GO with the flow applies here) higher speeds will cut the miles faster
and if you like to speed, by doing a search on what states fines are, can also be tempting to know INFO

I recall a few yrs back, in ND< a ticket for like 25 over posted sign was like 40 bucks??
was willing to give the officer a 100 as I KNEW after that I would be NOT be driving posted speeds again in ND LOL
NO points either!
then you know when to make time and not have such worries maybe about tickets or points on your lic??

My son and I came back from New Mexico last August. We flew out there to pick up a car. He mapped out a route from Santa Fa, NM to Wisconsin. Started in Santa Fa NM and took a route from there thought the desert and many old time towns, to the interstate in OK. Stayed there over night and then hit the interstate until just before MO. There we turned north and took the Old Route 66 for miles until we got back on the interstate. Stayed at St Louis that night and then took the interstate back to Wisconsin. Google some interesting places along the way ( many on that part of 66 )and you'll have plenty to see. There e's was a town along that road that we went through that was Micky Mantles home town. They ever named the baseball field after him and had a statue of him there. Have a nice trip.
