That was great! I grew up on a 1980 enticer 340. The best shot was the vmax and srv diving into the snow landing a jump!👍

The trails were where you rode to and from wherever.
Don't remember any "private property" issues. If it wasn't fenced, or posted, good to go. We even rode snow covered streets back home, anywhere except around the hospital and Ashmun Av. (main street through town). We stayed away from city hall and the cop shop also. It wasnt technically legal, alleys were, but never had any issues except when getting carried away and jumping snowbanks, and doing stupid stuff on the roadway.

I like your comment Kip, so ironic.

I was 17 in 1983 living in Green Bay, WI and it was a time when we actually had reliable snow in this area and we had many more trails with one that went right to my parents convenience store/gas station in Oneida, WI. So much fun for us here, get off the school bus at 4 PM and ride the sled right from home (oh, that's what kids can do in the U.P. now in 2017..nice).
I remember going to the Green Bay snow which was likely as big as the Milwaukee snow show is today and seeing the 1984 SS 440 and thinking wow these sleds are so great compared with the 70 Ski-Doo my dad handed me down or even the Herters and Ariens sleds (yes, orange from the snowblower company) that I found for sale at the local farmer.
As soon as we saw the sleds at the show on Saturday we went to "Sports Villa" the Yamaha dealer of the day on Monday.

What a time, but our trails in G.B. are as thin as the snow is, just a few that criss cross the area and open as the opportunity exists (not in the 2016/2017 winter though).

Thanks for posting the video and reminding us of what snowmobiling was like back in the early 80s. And watching that TSS suspension in action on the video reminded me of what that Pogo stick front end actually felt like when you rode it on those bumps. It just pogo'd down the trail just like you would think. I remember very clearly after watching that video. And the rear suspension when pushed hard would bottom out pretty easily. They showed that in action as well. Overall though it was an improvement over the leaf spring things they also were showing in the video. Enough so that everyone was enamored by the improvements and bought sleds. The Phazer came out the year after that video was made and would change everything for Yamaha.
