For AXYS owners. Check your skid wheel bearings!!

I put these pics in a different thread but thought I would start one to warn ya. I needed to put slides in my 16' Axys. When I had it up I noticed 7 of the 8 little wheels the bearings were junk. Big wheels were all good but the little ones were junk. Seals were missing and the rollers were all rusty. I had a couple in the parts bin at work and ordered 8 more. $5 and change my cost and only takes a minute to change. IMG_20171021_082829407.jpg IMG_20171021_103641289.jpg

you are CORRECT sir....that is all I use...NTN BLUE SIDED SEALED BEARINGS....they last really long...the black seal is for general purpose...the red seal is for heat applications...and the blue seal is for cold applications...I only ride CATS so I don't know your number you need...I been using them since 1999 roughly...only way to go IMO....all manus cheap us out on those but WOW...POLARIUOS failed in one year and I don't think slim puts on many miles...the NTNs last me aboot 5000 miles of rough riding.

LOL - Boy that looks familiar. Saw the same thing on my previous Switchback Assault after 1 season & then just saw the same thing on someone else's 2016 Switchback Pro S this past weekend. In some cases like was stated the seals were completely gone. I don't get it - why would Polaris use such junk bearings. BTW, the NTN number is 6004LU.

Hey pal I put plenty of miles on! Try for 3k a year but I am not riding on the crap you ride on. You can have it... 6004 is the bearing number.

How many miles were on those?

Did you remove the seals and fill the new bearings completely with grease before putting them on the sled? I usually do this, I don't want any space for water to get in there at the start of the season.

I am over 4k for miles. Filling the bearings full of grease isn't going to help when the seal goes missing. To much grease might make the seal fall off easier as well? IDK but its a 5 minute fix. I will just check em every year and replace as needed.

wasn't a malicious dig there slim...I said...I thought you don't put on many...but ONE YEAR is unacceptable whether it be CAT...which they fail also all the time but not a quick as that....YAMAMAHAMAs or POLARIOUS or SKIDONTs...I am an equal opportunity failed sled componenets kinda guy....since they are made here now...the OEM ones that is

play this while your changing em all the time and ya wont feel so badski...enjoy....LOL

When pushing the seal back on, it squeezes out any excess. Never had an issue with the seal going missing like that, but I will be looking over my 465 mile 2016 sooner than later now, thanks for the heads up. I check them every year, as well as mid-season. I personally won't go more than 1000 miles at a time without checking the whole sled over. Putting on north of 3k/year, stuff happens!

guys,...like me,...who studded, also wasted the entire "lightweight" mag style wheel in 2K. They are JUNK. My dealer gave me a set of the ugly but sturdy solid wheels to replace. The seals falling off is another sick deal all together. Seriously,....who wouldn't opt for a $60.00 upgrade option for a good bearing if it was offered.....cripes, Polarious.....these are $13K MSRP sleds....quit effin up the simple stuff!

Typical business trying to reduce costs by outsourcing their components to the lowest bidder..probably made in Bangladesh or the like.
