I live in IL, but don’t ride sleds here. I’ve never registered in Il, and have been checked numerous times and have never had any problems with just WI registration. To register as a "out of state registration" in Wis, you are required to have registered in your home resident state also. We were riding with a friend who did not several years ago, and it got very expensive after we were stopped for a check point. He honestly thought he was legal, and hadn't intended not to be. Wishful thinking, and lots of $$$$$$$$$$$$$, made for a bad day riding. Illinois resident, Illinois registration. Wisconsin same way. It's called reciprocal law. Most all adjoining states have this on vehicle laws.
