Basing out of Watersmeet Casino Hotel

I was contemplating staying at the casino for a trip in February. Never stayed and ridden out of there normally stay further north. Not worried too much about trail conditions as most any riding is better than no riding since it never snows enough around home to ride. What are your experiences with staying here? Good or bad thanks in advance

I like riding out of watersmeet. Casino hotel is getting run down in my opinion. Pool area is in desperate need of updating along with hotel rooms. We stay here with guys. Wouldn’t bring my wife or kids here.

Some kind of listeria outbreak a couple of years ago. Closed for a while till it got taken care of. I've stayed at Adventure motel in mass city for quite a while, Nice place, I always stay upstairs, rooms seem better. Nice little breakfast café on premises. Gas station close by.

I guess motel rates have gone up a bit! Haven't needed a sled trip room at LVD in 6 years or so....was about $90 a night back then.....

Do they still give you $10 free play and some sort of fuel coupon as well?

You can just park your sled right our front, we just picked an area out of the way but still under some lights. A big positive is that the gas station located there takes pay at the pump.

The entire building needed renovation 10 years ago.....I stayed there twice and agree with those who say only with the guys. My wife wouldn't step foot in that joint.

It sure would be nice to see them put some money back into the place.

Kind of funny the different opinions of different folks. Its not a bad place to stay at all but their prices more than doubled in the last 2 years. It used to be about $55 a night and now if you dont call early enough the rate is like $125 and they only give you $5 in Free play. Used to love staying there and still like to stay there but not as often anymore. The Casino itself is run totally backwards too, last Saturday night there was 2 full tables of Blackjack and their policy is closing tables at 12:30 , how fricken stupid, both tables were having fun, on a Saturday night! I can understand on a weeknight but whatever.Just not as friendly in and around the Property as they used to be.

I didn't know they raised the rates. I swear it used to be something like $30/night if staying 3 nights or more. Then they would throw you $10/day for the casino.

Trailered to the casino a few years ago, got there about 130 in the afternoon. Check in was 3 pm and the guy at the desk wouldn't let us check in or tell us if our room was even ready. Had to wait until 3 before he would take care of us. Never again.

On a side note my buddy got food poisoning from dinner that night, at the casino and we had to leave a day earlier than planned.

I would base out somewhere else. Try Land O Lakes or Eagle River and ride through Watersmeet heading north.

Gambled there last January, slots were extremely tight. They were remodeling the casino at that time, and there were tons of sleds and trailers in the lot. Buffet was cheap, but not great.

Nearly all places in UP realized that they need to charge a big rate for their rooms in the winter when they can fill them to survive the rest of the year. Simple business survival. Pay to play in the snow or stay where snow is marginal. I don't like it either, but do understand.

Currently more like $155 to $175.

Rather high priced.Room rates doubled plus some. Cleaned up some compared to what it used to be. Food and drinks are pricey. Paid $2.75 for an
8 oz. milk at the snack bar. I believe check in is 4 PM and you WON'T get your room any sooner. I'd look for a better place to stay !!!!
