Just back from a two day visit to the land of the Loggers. The trails were Good to Very Good throughout the county on Friday and Saturday. The corners were blown out by the end of both days but that's to be expected with high traffic. The groomers fixed everything overnight and we were good to go. Regular Gas in the area is $2.59 a gallon.

The first picture is that of the Smith Rapids Covered bridge. It's one of my favorite places to stop for group pictures or just to take a breather.

It snowed all day Saturday and they picked up about 4 to 6 inches county wide. This would be a typical trail from this past weekend.

Looking from east to west across Lake Duroy, the city of Phillips, Wisconsin.

Lunch time at Moose Jaw, just a few of your closest friends....

Alright! Who put the hat on the Moose? Don't mess with the Moose, it makes him mad!

This was my first chance to get some extended seat time on the new Blizzard and it's everything they promised.

The R Motion, TS Adjustable Carbides and the Ice Ripper track all add up to the best ride I've ever had. About the only thing bad about the trip is I think I picked up a "bug" somewhere i.e. scratchy throat, cough, etc. Those Flu shots don't work, every year I get a Flu shot and every year I get the Flu. Or maybe that's how it's supposed to work. Have a good week everyone!

Nice pics Gary! Where do you base out of in Price County?

Usually Phillips, it's centrally located but there's lodging in Prentice and Park Falls as well. I stayed at the Super 8, it's right on the trail with lots of parking. Pretty basic with a hot shower, soft bed, and breakfast bar.

Are you liking that 900???????

I like it a lot, Abe. It's less than my previous 1200 but more than adequate from corner to corner. It came in at 21 miles per gallon on this trip and that's burning regular at the pumps. So, ya she's a keeper!

Hmmm Gary, maybe we passed each other at some point Saturday.
We dropped in North of Wausau (Edgar). Headed north to Prentice then Phillips. Had lunch at Birch Island resort.
Around 210 miles for day. Like u said trails were great, especially in morning before traffic.

Whoa, that was a full day. I've been to Birch Island but only in the summertime. Wondering if you were on the Pine Line, the railroad grade that runs from Prentice down to Medford. That is a fast one where the miles add up in a short amount of time. It also runs past Timm's Hill, the highest point in Wisconsin. Another good stop for pictures and to take a breather.

Good question, maybe someone knows exactly but I'll guess 20 to 25 miles as the crow flies, certainly longer on the trail system and there are multiple trails that will get you there. Just grab a map and go for it. By the way, it is noted on the trail maps for Price County, just a smidge north of Hwy 70 and west of Pike Lake.

Yup it was, started early though, then met up with few more guys in Medford then took grade up. Worse part of day was trailering back to Wausau at night. Roads were pretty nasty.

Note: don't get gas in Phillips at noon on Saturday.:very_drunk:. Lol

Starting west of Mercer, going to run the flowage down and enter Price through Springstead. Just trying to plan for gas and how far south into Price we can go before heading west and then back North to eventually work our way back to Mercer area.

My friends at Google tell me the bridge would be 20 miles southwest of Mercer and 10 miles south of Springstead. And that's as Mr. Crow flies, somewhat longer by trail. Should be fun, have safe travels.
