o man remember going straight out the back of lolo hotsprings almost straight up to that goat trail and turning left then snake along until you came to fishcreek road...and then turning right and going to the ranger station at lolopass on unplowed huge azz wide fishcreek road....one of my all time fav unplowed highways to ride....up up and away....remember chicken hawk at the bar...he lived at the end of fish creek road up dare by himself
your memoriy is way better than mine,
I was there in the 90's and I couldn;t ell you what way we all went, we mostly played follow the leader, and spent maybe more time picking lines to NOT get stuck than total directions of things
my friends, knew a guy that lived out that way and he toured us all over
I was out there first time a 120 inch trails led with I think a .75 lug track, towed 4 sleds out from PA to there, and on some crazy wild snow covered roads with HIGH cross winds in a HOME MADE 4 place enclosed trailer a buddy made before the trip(was going to tow out on open deck trailer, and buddy enclosed trailer with plywood)
was about as square as could be, and ZERO aerodynamic's to it from any side! LOL
but trips like that do make for fond memories, or for me they do
as WAY back then, very few if anyone in MY area ever went out west to ride sleds, just wasn't common info the riding out there
few magazines covered things, NO real movies, or videos till LATE 90's to even show it
BUT MY Fav area for ME< and my riding was always more in the Pinedale area of WY, tons of seasonal roads , all the off trail you could want, and almost NO one ever about
could ride a full week and never see anyone else, and only tracks you seen were mostly your's
groomed trails every night
the NO one else about, has its disadvantages if you get into trouble
but, for a couple buddy's that stuck together and like minds and skills
we had a lot of great fun, like having a million + acres of playground to yourself, could FLY on the super smooth and wide trails, and off trail got as crazy as we wanted
but there are SO many great places out west, its crazy how much snow they can get and how long it can take to cover a small area when playing!
also crazy how so few out there want to trail ride?? trails are normally smooth and fast and scenery every where!
