Who adds what to their gas???

Just had this discussion with another rider. I'm a SeaFoam and Stabil fan. I've tried Star-Tron but couldn't tell a difference. Lets assume using premium without ethanol. Buddy said that Seafoam leaves a black residue in the carb needles. I've never noticed this as I always run the gas out of them for storage.

Either star tron or stabil at the end of the season. Been using both products in Sdi’s and etecs. So far so good

SeaFoam is a fine product, but will not prevent ethanol blended gas from "phase separation". I personally have no use for Stabil in any type fuels, much better products available. I have found that both StarTron, and K-100, do a fine job as they are labeled for, and as intended use. Both prevent E blend gas "phase separation", K-100 also has a octane boost. Both will stabilize, fuel stay in spec for a longer period than most, if added when fuel is fresh/new. I use these products due to the fact you can get gas that is out of spec, and not what it is supposed to be. None of these are additives are intended to do anything but what it is labeled for, and intended to do.

I always run non-ethanol fuel. I add Stabil if there is a chance the sleds will sit for 4 weeks or more. I always try to take a quick ride after I add the stabil to make sure its all the way through the fuel system.

Stabil in the offseason. Use 91 Octane fuel and keep full at all times (if possible) to keep condensation out except for the offseason. Also top off oil at all times for same reason. Never have had a problem (knock on wood).

Startron in the off season in the sled and sxs, startron year round in the chain saws and leaf blower.

Until this year I would have said nothing....but I've now got a sled that requires at least 91 octane and our local store only has ethanol-free 87 ( alright, last time it was tested it was actually 90 but he can't label it as such because of MI rules)....nearest 91 is 25 mi. away by trail so I carry a couple 8 oz. bottles of Torco Accelerator in my tunnel bag just to be safe...

Im sold on star tron! It comes in different strengths, ( amazon) ive got family in florida where boats n jetskis get used every six months or so ( when me n kids go down. I have personally witnessed seadoos that were throwing cel's & would only run in limp mode, from old gas, completely turn around and turn old gas into useable fuel

Star-tron, however one of sleds takes 91 octane and I still drain as much as possible at start of year, not going to take chance that it is any longer 91 octane. Sea-foam or stabil NOT

What you just posted is where K-100 comes in for me. I always carry a small bottle with me in case of a "BAD" gas situation. Check it out. A very good Marine/Snowmobile dealer put me on to it. Premium additive.

old abe, I will, I also carry with me a bottle of octane boost as well because when you stop at some of those way out backwoods gas stops you never know what you will get and have had an experience or two in the past where after fueling up with what is supposed to be premium, all of a sudden I have the death rattle coming out from under my hood. If you have a sled that requires high octane and don't carry something, you are potentially asking for trouble.

I hear ya euphoric1! I am sure you will like what you find on K-100, they have several products. I use StarTron normally without the bad gas issue, such as for stabilizing, contamination prevention.

I add a little garlic extract. Doesn't do anything for sled performance but it does offset the after effects of bar chili specials!

Star-tron- also we have 110 octane is Lakeville MN and Bell Plain- I like to throw a splash in old gas to help it out -about 25% 110, but depends on how old the gas is-

Do some engines actually require premium for the compression, or just because 91 usually doesn't have ethanol? My girlfriends naturally aspirated Acura actually has higher compression so it will wreck the car if not used. My SRX says premium, which I run now, but I have also run it with regular 87 in the past no problems. I don't really rail on the thing so its pretty much babied despite all the power it has.
