I had the opportunity a while back to ride with a person who has someone very close on the inside at Textron. AC is not dumping the sled business. Regrouping, realigning products, and production yes. With what I have read, and what he told me, Textron has made a big bunch of moves, put a lot of effort, and $$$ into cost control mfg (modular) of their products. They purchased Weber so as to be able to supply their own power in different vehicles, and products they produce. With that, Textron's acquisition of AC also had a whole lot to do with Cat's ability to D/E/P their own engines/power. Not just 2-stroke, but 4- stroke also. This will allow them to be very efficient as to product design, engineering, and production mfg total $$$. It now appears the AC trade mark will be Textron's Rec vehicle brand. This in it's self should be reassuring to the Cat loyal customers. Yes, all of the "old loyal guard AC co." sled guy's are gone. However I am in hopes the AC brand will really surprise a whole lot of us in the next few years. Either that, or Textron has thrown a lot of $$$ away?
