Triton Hybrid Owners

I just bought a 2017 TC167 trailer that is like new. Beautiful. What is everyones' experience with driving up the ramp door? Any carbide/catching issues? Does the door "take a hit?" Caliber makes those really nice hinged edge guards, but at some point the spending has to be curtailed.

I have a Triton like yours. I went the whole Caliber route. Cost about $750 to do it right. It looks good. The biggest thing you have to concern yourself with is the seal between the door and the trailer floor. If you tear that up with either studs or carbides you have a really big job in front of you. These Tritons are put together in such a way that they do not like get taken apart. They use a lot of glue and two sided tape. Much easier to do preventive maintenence than to fix. Don't ask me how I know this. Like Forcontom said - Why spend all that money and not protect it.

So what did you do? Buy another set of hinged edge guards and mount them so they bridge the seal?

Yup. All the way across with no gaps. If you even leave a little gap Murphy's Law will kick in and a stud will find that exact spot.

I also have this trailer & went caliber route. no slipping and sliding when walking on ramp. never any problem with gap between ramp & trailer. but I don't have studs on my sleds. I always sweep out snow in the gap before closing door to keep from freezing. also no issues when first hitting ramp because of angle. mine is a 2015 and I love it no problems.

I just put a 2x4 on the ground. Even without tne 2x4 i have never had any problems.

X2 we have a 25ft enclosed including V by 7ft wide and drive one in and reverse the other in and use the 2x4 when loading backwards. Fit 4 in this way and it works great. Like you stated "spending has to be curtailed"

you can also just use a piece of PVC pipe to fill the gap between door ramp and inside trailer, to NOT have anything hang up and ruin seals there or damage decking/molding
, what size PVC depends on how wide the gap is
you want it so it sits in gap yet higher than rest of floor on ramp and deck inside
cheap thing to do till budget gets better or??
