selling a sled still with a valid registration

I'm going to be selling a sled that is registered in the state of Michigan, we just purchased the 3 yr stickers last season and now we are going to sell the sled, should I peel the registration stickers off when I sell it or does that stay with the sled for the next owner? I was hoping to sell it to my neighbor up north in michigan, So the sled would stay in the state

I removed my 3 yr stickers just to head off any future issue.. I didn't want my name to follow the sled b/c he may not have reregistered.

I leave mine on in WI.
I have the buyer sign a simple sales agreement with the date on it and take a pic of the registration card that I signed and dated.
Should protect me well.

Old/existing stickers don't transfer. So why leave them on. My thought was by removing them the new owner would have to register, instead of hoping he does. And I too had a signed receipt also which is a good protection but removing them is the best protection.

Then that makes sense. In WI, they transfer and you pay less. Same with a boat, ATV, etc.

I have sold a lot of things that the new owner doesn't bother to transfer. It is a pain when a person keeps getting registration notifications for things long gone. As far as liability make absolutely certain you at least make up a bill of sale and sign it and save it. People are unbelievably lazy/stupid/irresponsible.
