2011 apex xtx 1.25 track ..... looking for recommendations for straightline cable-style (or similar) ice scratchers,
rail mount or a-arm mount?
16" or 12" ?
any storage issues when not in use?
thanks !

Check out Qualipeices, from Canada, "Trail Blizzer" cable scratchers. Their web site will give you all the info. I believe these to be the very best "cable scratcher", on mounting, material make up, and durability/quality. They work very good.

i did the straightline a arm mount and they beat the bottom of the sled up
moved them to rail mount and they lasted about 1 year and the cable broke on all 3 apex xtxs
if you dont need them put them up in holders or the cable will break if you leave them down all the time
i ride 4000 miles a year

and the carbide end pieces fell of off 2 so locktite everything

i used muffler clamps cut in 1/2 for replacement ends

thanks abe.....I'm going with the Trailblizzers carbides.....also will make some rail hooks for storage.....their website was really informative too
Not a big fan of scratchers, but i don't want to go thru another year like this, parked with all this snow.

I need to add this, as with any type "scratcher", lift them before crossing RR tracks! Severe damage can result from not doing so. Not just to the scratcher, but the sled also!
